Today we got to hear what each of these two contestants had to say about their experience. Keep reading for more details!
The Biggest Loser lost two contestants to elimination last night. Both Don Evans and Larialmy Allen were sent home after they couldn’t cut it at the weigh in’s. In a press conference today we got to hear what these two had to share about their experience and how they are doing since leaving the show. Here is what they both wanted to share with fans and viewers:
Question: Larialmy, how hard was it to hear the other contestants talk negatively about your husband like they did last night?
Larialmy Allen: It was definitely hard, but knowing my husband like I do, I know there were times he was a little off and his mind was elsewhere. So I could definitely see where my team mates were coming from and how they could feel that way.
Question: Don, why do you think the ranch was not for you?
Don Evans: I’ve given it a lot of thought and come to the conclusion that I am a police officer and like most police officers we’re used to being in control, and I had no control there. I started worrying myself about home life and it was no secret that I was homesick. But I did take away the foundation that has enabled me to come home and be extremely successful.
Question: Don, Dan mentioned prepared to be separated – how did losing his support affect your desire to continue at the ranch?
Don Evans: I don’t think it had a great deal of bearing on my continuing at the ranch, I knew this was not forever, it would end eventually. I have to admit we enable each other, but it’s in a positive way, when he left it was just a fact and there would have to be a time when I was leaving as well.
Question: Larialmy, how has it been without Q there doing this together?
Larialmy Allen: I think first thing I had to do when I got home was have a conversation with myself – even tho Q & I do this together, it’s still an individual journey. Now I am just trying to take advantage of taking care of me and my part of our journey.
Question: Larialmy, are you angry that you had to sacrifice your spot for your husband?
Larialmy Allen: I wasn’t angry at all, there aren’t too many things I wouldn’t give for him. In my heart, I wouldn’t change a thing. I knew the support system I had coming home. My family & friends are 100% supportive of me, while his support system is not that strong, I knew he needed the support of the ranch more than me.
Question: Don, can you elaborate on the plan to throw the weigh in?
Don Evans: Yes, I am so glad I have the opportunity to explain. I want to make it perfectly clear to everyone listening – the idea to intentionally gain weight and therefore be eliminated was NOT my idea. Irene approached me about the weight gain to allow us to fall below the yellow line, and she was very candid with me as she knew I was prepared to go home. It was pretty much the game was over for me – she and rest of contestants would be safe for the next week. It was not how I wanted it but it was the way it happened. Irene and I and all the other contestants got really close while I was there, so I don’t think there was any malice, I simply think she saw the opportunity to save everyone else and she knew I was set to go home at any time. It was nothing more than a strategic move on her part. Yes it is a game, but I don’t want anyone to think what she did has any ill will or malice involved.
Question: So how did you plan to gain 6 lbs, can you tell us about the discussion with Irene?
Don Evans: Irene told me she was going to do this, it was going to happen whether I was involved or not, that was clear. We had a limited discussion as far as what would each one of us do. I made the decision that game was over. I simply did not have enough time to make up from all the weight gain. My only decision was that I was going to support her and the other contestants. It was not how I wanted it, but there were no other options at that point.
Question: Do you feel guilty about it Don?
Don Evans: That’s been brought up several times, and it’s kind of frustrating. No I don’t feel guilty, I applied for The Biggest Loser at a time when I needed the most help. They interviewed me and they chose me. I consider it my position and that did not belong to anyone else. If I have taken what I learned while there and I continue to lose weight then no I do not feel bad at all.
Question: So have you come to any conclusion about what happened with Dan, since you both said you did not throw that weigh in?
Don Evans: Sure I’ve given it a lot of thought, as there are a lot of other factors in the way here. I was being treated for water retention, I was not watching my hydration levels. I look back on it now and I see things I could have done differently. I accept full responsibility for what happened. I have no answers, but since I have come home
I watch every drop of water and my hydration level.
Question: Larialmy, you looked so much happier working out with your sisters than you did at the ranch, can you explain that to us?
Larialmy Allen: I have a different level of enjoyment to my life, I finally found happy. Being 301 lbs and suffering from different aches and pains and knowing I am hindering us from having children, I was not happy. The fact that I can work out with siblings everyday is icing on cake for me. Having people so close to me looking up to me is amazing. The Biggest Loser has brought a whole other level of happiness to my life.
Best of luck to both Don and Larialmy, we look forward to seeing you both at the finale! Be sure to tune in next week at 8 pm EST on NBC for a brand new episode of The Biggest Loser! See you after the show!
