Fabio Viviani may have been eliminated in the last episode of Top Chef: All-Stars, but don’t let the picture fool you. According to the charismatic Italian chef, he was “laughing his ass off” the entire time. What was so funny? Perhaps it had a little something to do with guest judge Jimmy Fallon of NBC’s Late Night talk show. Read on to find out Fabio’s thoughts on his elimination, and what’s still got him “steaming” since leaving the hit Bravo reality show.
**As noted in the full TV Guide interview, it’s much better if you read this with Fabio’s wonderful accent in mind. He will sooo be missed (Sigh.).
“I absolutely loved it. I was laughing my ass off,” Fabio Viviani told TV Guide of Jimmy Fallon’s guest spot on Top Chef: All-Stars. “I love that guy. I think he’s a very good entertainer and is very spontaneous — that’s what I like.”
But what was really going through his mind after hearing that it was time for him to pack his knives and leave the competition?
“I was thinking: A) They got it all wrong, and B) I am very happy at the position I am in life,” said Fabio. “And getting kicked off of Top Chef? Big deal. I’ve got stuff to do; I love to get it all done. If you’re asking me, I should have won the dim sum challenge and the Italian as well, but it is what it is. I was happy, it was fun, and now I’m home.”
As for getting axed by guest judge Jimmy Fallon of NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon? Viviani wouldn’t have it any other way, telling TV Guide, “Come on, who do you want to get kicked off by, Martha Stewart? Jimmy Fallon is the man, that’s the way to go.”
And while he doesn’t exactly agree with the judges’ decision to send him home (he felt that his “boorger” may not have been traditional, but it was still a “boorger,” as opposed to Tiffany’s chicken and dumplings minus the dumplings), Fabio’s got better things to do than worry about who should have been eliminated…
“I’d rather keep bitching about Antonia winning the Italian challenge with a freakin’ bowl of French mussels.”
