This week on The Bachelor, Brad Womack met the remaining four girls in each of their hometowns to meet their families and see where they live, and sent Shawntel packing during the rose ceremony. Chris Harrison weighed in with his opinion of the hometown dates in his weekly blog. Keep reading for highlights…
In his Entertainment Weekly blog, Chris Harrison opened by saying how much he loves the hometown dates on The Bachelor.
Brad first met Chantal O in her hometown of Seattle. Chris notes that a couple of things stood out to him about this date. First, “Brad really seems comfortable and to fit in with Chantal’s family. They seemed all but ready to have a wedding on the spot.” The second thing? Chris said, “The other thing I noticed is Chantal’s dad’s wine cellar. Wow, I have cellar envy.”
After a lengthy trip, Brad and the crew arrived in Ashley’s hometown of Madawaska. Chris noted that after the family messed with Brad for a bit, “Overall, like Chantal’s visit it was easy and comfortable. It was a really good rebound for Ashley after what has been a couple rough weeks for her.”
Next was Brad’s visit to Chica to meet Shawntel at her family’s mausoleum and crematorium. During the date, Shawntel’s father expressed dismay at the idea that she might leave town and not succeed him in the family business. Chris noted, “Yes, in the end her dad did say he wished them well and gave them his blessing, but that moment and that pressure of taking her away hung over the date and probably played a factor in Brad’s final decision.”
The final hometown date was with Emily in Charlotte. Chris observed that it was an important one for Brad, and the one he was most nervous about as he would be meeting Emily’s daughter. Brad was able to win over Ricki in the end, but Chris said in his blog what many of us were thinking watching the episode, “But there is something about Brad and Emily’s relationship that’s almost awkward. ”
Chris previews next week’s episode by saying that when the fantasy suite cards arrive it makes for a very interesting episode.
