The Biggest Loser: Return Of The Red Line And Sacrifices

February 22, 2011 08:05 PM by Lisa Princ

The Biggest Loser on NBC is back tonight and brings the return of the red line and some sacrifices with it. Last week we watched as Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels’ black team pulled off another win despite losing the gym but with the threat of the red line, would they be able to pull it off again? Keep reading for all the details on this episode and to find out who had a shocking weigh in!

The Biggest Loser kicks off tonight as Brett and Cara decide that they are not going to lose yet another weigh in and start off the red team with some intense workouts. Then we watch as Rulon meets up with former UFC champion Bas Ruten, who had not seen Rulon with all his extra weight so of course Rulon was nervous. Bas, however was thrilled to see Rulon and commended him on how great he was doing, easing Rulon’s mind.

Next up the contestants were greeted by Ali Sweeney who issued them their endurance challenge for the week. This week, the contestants would have to bounce huge balls in the air from one end of a football field to another….but there was one catch – they could not let them touch the ground, if they did they would have to start over. It seemed like an extremely tough challenge and both teams struggled at first, but the red team quickly found a rhythm and quickly pulled ahead. The black team just could not get it together and barely had one ball down the field by the time the red team completed their sixth and final ball. The red team won the challenge and a 3 lb advantage at the weigh in.

The black team, despite losing the challenge was determined – or so we thought at least. Bob and Jillian worked them hard also determined to make sure they won another weigh in. Bob was primarily focused on Arthur since most of the team would probably still send him home if given the chance. Then we watched as Cara worked out personally with Kaylee, who has evolved into a completely different person since starting the show both physically and emotionally. Then it was time for their last chance workouts before the weigh in. Let’s see how our teams fared at the weigh in this week.

Red Team

211 to 213 for a total gain of 2 lbs (+.95%)

306 to 299 for a total loss of 7 lbs (2.29%)

296 to 291 for a total loss of 5 lbs (1.69%)

371 to 367 for a total loss of 4 lbs (1.08%)

277 to 270 for a total loss of 7 lbs (2.53%)

187 to 180 for a total loss of 7 lbs (3.74%)

333 to 322 for a total loss of 11 lbs (3.30%)

Total team loss of 42 lbs (2.12 %) *had a 3 lb advantage

Black Team

196 to 204 for a total gain of 8 lbs (+4.08%)

208 to 204 for a total loss of 4 lbs (1.92%)

415 to 406 for a total loss of 9 lbs (2.17%) *hit 100 lbs loss this week

238 to 241 for a total gain of 3 lbs (+.1.26%)

258 to 256 for a total loss of 2 lbs (.78%)

181 to 182 for a total gain of 1 lb (+.55%)

206 to 202 lbs for a total loss of 4 lbs (1.94%)

194 to 193 for a total loss of 1 lbs (.52%)

198 to 195 for a total loss of 3 lbs (1.52%)

Total team loss of 11 lbs (.53%)

In what was probably the most emotional weigh in ever, we watched as the black team threw the weigh in – or some of them did anyway. Deni, Marci and Jesse all threw the weigh in, making the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of their children, but none was more emotional than Deni’s who claimed she would not see her daughter go home as she watched her daughter lose baby after baby because of what she had passed on to Sarah – emotional eating. With that said, Deni was the contestant who fell below the red line and was automatically eliminated, but she was not upset as she said she was “the biggest winner” before she told all the contestants that they were all like kids to her.

Then it was time for someone else to be eliminated, and due the fact that so many people threw the weigh in on the black team, it was the black team who was also up for elimination. It was a unanimous vote that Jesse would be the player to go home as they all knew he could continue his journey at home, and Jesse admitted to throwing the weigh in just so Arthur could stay. Jesse is currently down to 227 lbs and leads an extremely healthy and active lifestyle at home. Deni is also continuing her healthy lifestyle at home and has lost over 80 lbs to date, leaving her at 170 lbs. We can’t wait to see these two at the finale!

I did not enjoy this episode; I feel the Black team would have won. Those parents are not
teaching their children to stand on their own two feet. The father from the Red team did
it right, he felt his daughter might have some problems at the weigh in, so he got her up
early every morning and they worked out, that is the way to do it. The managers of this
show should not allow “weight Throwing” it take away from the enjoyment. They came to lose weight, if they don’t want to be there, then give the spot to someone who does
