The Real Housewives of Miami: Season Premiere!

February 22, 2011 09:14 PM by Shayla Perry

It’s the season premiere of Bravo’s Real Housewives of Miami! Will the sultry ladies of South Beach be able to top the drama we saw in Beverly Hills? We sure hope so! Keep reading for everything you missed in tonight’s premiere episode.

Life is hot, hot, hot in Miami, but for Bravo’s Real Housewives, it’s simply en fuego!

Lea Black, the wife of powerful criminal defense attorney, Roy Black, is known for her fabulous gatherings and even more fabulous friends. In fact, in the first two minutes of the show, we see Lea with rapper Rick Ross, singer Natalie Cole, and basketball’s Dennis Rodman.

Larsa Pippen, wife of NBA great Scottie Pippen, is a Chicago native, but moved to Florida with her husband after his retirement. The couple has four children, but according to Larsa, her job is not only to take care of her family, but to “look cute.” So she spends a LOT of time working out.

With her brother in town, Larsa takes a trip to the local firing range to learn how to shoot a gun (just a typical day, right?). The confident “bad ass” is not shy about letting people know that she is good at everything that she does, which we’re sure will be a problem at some point this season.

Adriana De Moura is an art dealer with a 9-year-old son, Alex, and a fiancee, Frederic, who proposed to her just weeks after her divorce was finalized.

Cristy Rice, a fiesty Cuban-American born in raised in Miami, is the ex-wife of NBA’s Glen Rice. She loves a good mojito, and has made it clear that she’s on the prowl, looking for a new man in her life.

Larsa and Cristy invite Adriana to attend a fashion week event with them, but Adriana De Moura isn’t used to the Miami shows and showing up so early– though she’s very happy with the “eye candy.”

After the show, the ladies head backstage to meet with the designer, and Cristy dares Adriana to walk out on the runway.

Not one to back down, Adriana struts her stuff on the catwalk, which Cristy (the one who dared her to do it in the first place) calls childish.

Alexia Echevarria, another Cuban-American born and raised in Miami, is often referred to as “the human Barbie,” but as she says, “Barbie can’t talk.” So wise.

She has two teen sons from a previous marriage, who she feels will need her forever.

Alexia and her husband are owners of Venue magazine and very involved in the Miami social scene.

Her oldest son (17), who’s an aspiring model and actor, is getting ready to go on a cruise with his girlfriend, but Alexia’s concern isn’t what he and his girlfriend will be doing on that cruise, but what he’ll be eating, and she urges him to remember not to stuff his face and always be mindful of his diet.

Alexia also reveals that she has no problem allowing her children to drink alcohol on occasion, because as she says, Miami is very diverse, and with all of the other cultures around, it’s not as uncommon to have a drink with your child as it is in Minnesota.

Out for drinks after the fashion show, Larsa Pippen, Cristy Rice, and Adriana De Moura are approached by some guys asking them to dance (of course it had nothing to do with the cameras surrounding the ladies– right?). Larsa, decides to leave to avoid any trouble, but Adriana and Cristy stay and enjoy themselves.

Marysol Patton, also a native of Miami, runs a very high-profile PR agency and is dating a much younger man. According to Marysol, after her divorce, younger guys just began to notice her– and she noticed them, too.

Marysol’s mother, Elsa, is a “seer” (not to be confused with a psychic) to many A-list celebrities. Marysol visits her mom to get her read on her boyfriend, Phillipe. Surprisingly, Elsa asks her about their sex life (awkward!) and tells Marysol that she thinks that Phillipe will be her husband.

Marysol doesn’t agree, feeling a little apprehensive about the 10 year age difference, but asks if she can bring Phillipe by to meet her mother in person.

Lea Black is hosting a cooking night at her house for all of the women. Before they start cooking, Larsa Pippen invites everyone to go horseback riding, but Marysol and Lea aren’t game.

After making an avacado salad, with the help of a chef, the ladies sit down and enjoy their meal and some girl talk.

As they start talking about husbands, Lea mentions that Adriana continuously keeps putting her wedding off. Adriana explains that she has issues with commitment because of what happened with her first husband.

Apparently, when Hurricane Katrina hit the Miami area, she and her son were at home while her husband was away on business. Not able to leave home due to the weather, Adriana wass in the shower and got a call from Brazil. Thinking it was her mother calling, Adriana answered the phone, and the voice on the other line asked for her husband. When Adriana told the woman that her husband wasn’t home, the woman asks her to identify herself. Adriana told the woman that she was married to the man she had asked for, and the woman told her, “Impossible; I am his wife.”

The woman went on to tell Adriana that she and her husband had a three month old baby, and that he also had a teenage daughter. She also discovered that her husband had paid for a home for the woman, who worked as an escort, and even provided her with a maid.

Lea, who took Adriana and her son in when she found that they had been living in a small art studio years ago, tells Adriana that her first mistake was staying with her husband after she caught him cheating on her the first time (yes! there was ANOTHER time!!!).

Sounds like this season will be heavy on the drama afterall!

Adriana, You were incredibly rude to Marcus. For a gallery owner you sure don’t understand artist. I think you were the meanest and wierdest for a gallery owner. Why would an artist or a client trust your undermining? If Lea was a real friend she would have told you this was not a good fight. You may have good looks but no character
