A big CONGRATS to the five Top Chef contestants who were recently named as semi-finalists for the highly coveted James Beard award (think of it as the Oscars for foodies)! The chefs were chosen out of a whopping 28,000 online submissions sent to the James Beard Foundation! Which Top Chef: All-Star made the list of semi-finalists?
We didn’t need an award to tell us how great the chefs of Top Chef are, but since it does exist, we can’t ignore the fact that five (yes, 5!) former contestants of the hit Bravo reality show have been named semi-finalists in the running for the prestigious James Beard award, which is given by the James Beard Foundation.
Which of our fave Top Chefs and their restaurants made the cut out of 28,000 online submissions?
Season 4 Top Chef winner Stephanie Izard’s restaurant, Girl & the Goat is in the running for Best New Restaurant.
Season 6 finalist Kevin Gillespie is up for Rising Star Chef of the Year.
Season 5′s Hector Santiago is nominated for Best Chef in the Southeast.
Season 7′s Kelly Liken’s Vale, Colorado restaurant (Kelly Liken), is also being considered for a James Beard award.
And representing Top Chef: All-Stars is Dale Levitski, who’s in the running for Best Chef in the Great Lakes region for his work at his restaurant, Sprout.
Also being recognized by the James Beard Foundation are many Top Chef Masters and guest judges of the show.
Congrats to Dale Levitski and all of the other semi-finalists, and their James Beard recognized restaurants!
