Top Chef: Cookin’ With Carla Hall

Hootie Hoo! Can’t get enough of Top Chef: All-Stars’ Carla Hall? Neither can we! Keep reading to see her cooking segment on NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and learn how to make the Chicken Pot Pie that won her (yet another) trip on the Bravo reality show.

If you missed Carla Hall’s cooking segment last week on NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, don’t worry– we’ve got it right here!

Here’s what you’ll need:

To make the dough…

-4 cups all-purpose flour

-2 teaspoons salt (or “compliments,” as Carla calls it)

-2 tablespoons sugar

-1 pound unsalted butter, cold and cut into 1/2-inch cubes

-2/3 cup water

And for the Chicken you’ll need…

-2 bay leaves

-3 tablespoons canola oil

-1 pound carrots, cut into 1/2-inch moons

-6 ribs celery, halved lengthwise and cut on the bias into 1/2-inch thick pieces

-4 quarts chicken stock

-4 onions, diced

Pepper, to taste

Salt, to taste

-2 sprigs rosemary

-6 leaves sage

-4 sprigs thyme

-2 whole chickens, 2 pounds each, broken into 6 pieces

To make the Chicken Veloute, you’ll need…

-4 ounces butter

-3 tablespoons canola oil

-8 ounces flour

-10 ounces frozen baby peas

-1/4 cup heavy cream

-Pepper, to taste

-Salt, to taste

    I made the chicken pot pie and it was slap your mamma good and will be one of my most favorite things the show off to friends and family who have never had chicken pot pie homemade. Thank you so much for sharing this with us I’m a big Carla fan I’m rooting for you. I hope you win!!!

    Awesome!!! Now I guess I have to give it a try. I’m sure it’s waaay better than the frozen ones I’m used to. :) I agree– I think Carla might actually win this one.
