The Biggest Loser on NBC said goodbye to Deni Hill and Jesse Wornum as they sacrificed themselves for their children at the weigh in. In a post elimination interview, Deni and Jesse share their experience with us. Keep reading for all the details!
The Biggest Loser’s Deni Hill and Jesse Wornum may have sacrificed themselves for their children, but both of these eliminated contestants are doing wonderfully at home and continuing their healthy lifestyles. In a post elimination interview these two shared their experience with us and I have to say it was so refreshing to listen to these two – Deni is a complete sweetheart and Jesse was so funny yet down to earth. Here is what they wanted to share with their fans and viewers.
Question: Can you tell us how you are doing now that you are home?
Deni Hill: I am working out 3-4 hours per day, taking spin classes and I have a trainer that works me for an hour and a half per day. I am sticking to my diet from the ranch but I have upped my calories to 1200, which is where Dr. H wants me to be. Overall I am doing really well.
Jesse Wornum: I am working out an average of an hour and a half to two hours a day for 6 days a week. I have hit a plateau where I haven’t lost any weight for a few weeks though. My trainer works with me for 3 days a week and then I have 3 days on my own. I am continuing with my program and my calorie intake has increased also to 1500-1800 calories. I haven’t really lost as much weight as I’d like to but that will come around.
Question: Jesse, how is your walking club going?
Jesse Wornum: Fantastic, it’s in its 3rd week now and I have some folks that I really targeted – a couple of people that I keep in touch with and make sure they show up. We are progressing and going along and
now that the word is out, I am real curious what the turnout will be this upcoming Saturday. I am continuing and looking forward to great results.
Question: Deni, how have things been with your grandchildren now?
Deni Hill: My daughter just had another baby, so I spent the week with her taking care of them. What’s great is that I have the physical strength now to keep up with them. They wear me out but it’s a good kind of worn out that I can keep up with now, which I couldn’t do before.
Question: There seems to be a lot more game playing this season – shouldn’t the focus be on weight loss?
Deni Hill: Knowing my position in the new team and wanting to take care of Sarah were my reason for playing the game. What people do not realize is that it was water weight that came off 2 days later. I’ve done great at home, but for them the longer they stay there the longer they get it mentally and they will be able to change their lives and generations to come. That was my thinking behind it and I would have done anything to ensure Sarah would be safe there another week.
Jesse Wornum: The focus is definitely and always was on losing weight. It was an eye opening experience for me to see game play involved. I learned how to influence the scale in a negative way. The whole purpose behind everything for me is that my son needs that, he needs to be there…period. I could not risk Arthur going home and I was confident that what I learned I could take with me. My biggest fear was that I would finish just above the red line and Arthur would finish just below the red line and we would both end up going home, so as far as I was concerned, that could not happen.
Question: Deni, can you tell us about the conversation you and Marci had prior?
Deni Hill: I was switched on the black team, they’ve been together for a long time and they consider Marci the “queen bee” so to speak and they would not let her go home. Marci promised that if I went home, they would protect Sarah…knowing the chances that I would survive I did what I had to do. Marci felt the same way, she would have gone home before any of the kids would have been sent home.
Question: Jesse, has your relationship with Arthur changed since you’ve been on the ranch and can you elaborate on Arthur’s conversation with you about his game playing move?
Jesse Wornum: Arthur and I have always had a great relationship and it only got stronger by our experience on the ranch. It’s gone from rock to diamond [chuckles]. With that said, it also has boundaries – He never did discuss his thought process prior to what he did. After it all happened I voiced my concerns to him but at that point it was too late. I respect what he is doing, and I listened to his reasons for why he did what he did. Often I did not agree with him, but I would still stand behind him.
Question: What do you think of Moses’ statement that he did not agree with what you did as he thinks that you were not teaching your children anything by doing this?
Deni Hill: What Moses said made perfect sense, basically don’t teach them to quit but push them harder. I respect what Moses said but I did what I had to do.
Jesse Wornum: I respect what he said, but that is his opinion and I have my opinion. I am going to say and do what I want to do, and I need not justify my actions to anyone so thank you Moses, but goodbye now.
Question: Jesse, you seemed upset when you were all sitting around talking about who needed to be there the most, can you elaborate?
Jesse Wornum: I was very upset, the point I was trying to make was that it was very clear who the next person who would be going home was.
Question: Deni, can you share what you meant when you said that you were the biggest winner?
Deni Hill: This was like getting the golden ticket, I learned so much and got to train with both sets of trainers. I got the best of both worlds and just knowing that Sarah would be there longer was such a blessing. My other daughter who just married is not expecting so I know I will now be around for that as well. I have learned so much, how I can not be the biggest winner?
Question: What have you gained from your Biggest Loser experience emotionally?
Deni Hill: So many things, I had great breakthroughs with Jillian and great breakthroughs with Cara, which built my self esteem…I felt so good about myself it was fantastic. I feel so much better, so confident now.
Jesse Wornum: For me the time on the ranch was much needed for me. The amount of time it allowed me to spend on myself was tremendously valuable. My emotional makeup has been improved to 100%. I now know that I have choices in my life and may not get it right 100% of the time, but 90 isn’t bad.
Best of Luck to both Deni and Jesse, we look forward to seeing you again at the finale! Be sure to tune in next Tuesday at 8 pm EST for a brand new episode of The Biggest Loser on NBC!
