The Biggest Loser: Going Home

March 01, 2011 10:42 PM by Lisa Princ

The Biggest Loser on NBC is back tonight and this week the contestants get to home for 2 weeks. But will they be able to keep up their diet and weight loss at home? Keep reading to find out what happens at the weigh in that brings Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels’ to tears!

The Biggest Loser kicks off tonight as Ali Sweeney sends the contestants home for 2 weeks. But that doesn’t come easy as she also informs them that they must run a 5k when they return and then they will head straight into a weigh in – meaning all of their weight loss must come at home, which proves to be harder for some contestants than others.

While at home, it is an emotional time for some as we watch Hannah step into the volleyball court with her dad for the first time since her accident and we also got to watch Arthur fit into a car a lot easier than he could before he came to the ranch. Temptations were everywhere also as we watched Austin celebrate his 21st birthday with friends, surrounded by junk food. Austin kept his cool though and did not eat or drink anything that would affect his weight loss. It was an emotional 2 weeks, but most of the contestants continued their hard work at home, in fact many of them spent their time running to train for the 5k.

When they returned to the ranch, the treadmills for the 5k awaited them as did a smiling Ali Sweeney. And then she announced the reward for completing the 5k the fastest – they would once again get to pick their trainers. That’s right, the first seven to finish were guaranteed the ability to choose whether or not they wanted to stay with their trainers or swap teams. Justin was the first to finish, followed by Rulon, Austin, Kaylee, Jen, Marci and finally Olivia, giving them all the power to choose where they would be. But then we watched as Sarah struggled with finishing or letting someone else decide for her. It was neck in neck between Sarah and Arthur for last place, and despite Arthur’s determination he could not keep up with Sarah.

When it was time to choose their trainers, almost everyone stayed exactly where they were until it was time for Jen to choose. Jen, for obvious reasons decided to go back to Bob and Jillian, which also meant one person from their team would be sent to the red team. Each time had six players on it and it was time for Sarah to decide which trainers she wanted, which would ultimately lead to Arthur’s fate as well. Sarah decided that she felt to comfortable on the red team and she would be staying with Bob and Jillian on the black team which meant that Arthur would be going to the red team and possibly home after the weigh in. Next up it was time for the weigh in on The Biggest Loser and here is how the teams fared after 2 weeks at home.

Red Team

406 to 390 for a total loss of 16 lbs

299 to 289 for a total loss of 10 lbs

291 to 286 for a total loss of 5 lbs

367 to 350 for a total loss of 17 lbs

270 to 262 for a total loss of 8 lbs

180 to 179 for a total loss of 1 lbs

322 to 317 for a total loss of 5 lbs

Total team loss of 42 lbs (2.12 %)

Black Team

211 to 197 for a total loss of 14 lbs

204 to 194 for a total loss of 10 lbs

256 to 246 for a total loss of 10 lbs

181 to 167 for a total loss of 14 lbs

202 to 190 lbs for a total loss of 12 lbs

193 to 182 for a total loss of 11 lbs

195 to 185 for a total loss of 10 lbs

Total team loss of 81 lbs (5.62 %)

Needless to say it was an emotional trip to the scale for Arthur. By the time he made it to the scale, we already knew the red team had lost the weigh in, so it was a matter or whether or not he could beat Rulon’s weight loss percentage to gain immunity, but he fell short by 2 lbs. Arthur started to cry on the scale and then turned his tears around to happy tears, claiming if he went home he would continue at home. But then Jillian chimed in, tears and all asking Arthur to fight for her at least. Bob followed suit in tears basically telling everyone how unfortunate it would be to send the unhealthiest person in the house home due to a stupid alliance.

Bob’s words seemed to hit home with a few of the red team players, but when it came time for elimination, they all seemed to be in agreement that it would be Arthur who would be going home. I can honestly say I have never cried during this show until now – these people are heartless in my opinion. Luckily for Arthur he has his dad an a great support system at home and to date he is down to 345 lbs and plans to be 250 for the finale in May. Good luck Arthur, we will miss you and hope you reach your goal by the finale!

This really sucks, what the contestant’s did to Arthur tonight!
I hope he comes back and wins it all…

I completely agree Sandy! Arthur may have played the game, but Bob said it best – it’s a matter of life and death with Arthur. I am so ticked at the red team, what a bunch of selfish people. I hope Arthur comes back and wins the at home prize and I will be rooting for the black team from this point on (all but Sarah, not sure I agree with what she did either).

Hats off to Arthur. He did well knowing where he started. Even after Bob’s moving plea, members of the red team was so “heartless”. I mean Arthur really needs to be there more than anyone else. Arthur lost the most pounds for the Black team lat weigh in and lost the second most(16 lbs) for the red team last night, yet they (red team) saw it fit to send him home. How about those who lost 1 – 5 lbs. Shame on you red team and I trust Arthur stay healthy and be well for the “at home” win. Good luck Arthur and keep on fighting

Arthur was really given a raw deal after losing the second most pounds at this week weigh in for the red team and the most for the black team last weigh in before they went home. He did well for a person entering at 500 plus and would have done so much more had he been given the opportunity.

    Hey everyone,

I just spoke with Arthur in an interview and he is doing great at home! He sounds so happy and he is such a nice, down to earth guy!
Keep your eyes open for my interview article, I will have it up later for you all – you won’t be disappointed in Arthur!

I just read Arthur’s interview, and he indicated Justin and Kaylee both offered to go home because he needed to be there; however, Rulon over ruled them. He controls how they vote and he said Arthur was to go home. Arthur indicated Marci demanded to speak to the producers and wanted to go home instead of him. So, it appears the heartless person is Rulon. Arthur said in the interview that Kaylee needed to be there just as much as him. Arthur showed class in the end.
