After all the performances in the past two days on American Idol on FOX, Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Ryan Seacrest are back tonight with the live results show! Did you vote and help your favorite to get through? Keep reading to find out who will be in the top 10!
American Idol kicked off tonight with Ryan Seacrest announcing that they received over 40 million votes last night and then Randy informed us that the top ten will be revealed and then the judges will choose who they would like to see perform again in a battle for the wild card spot. Scotty McCreery and Robbie Rosen were the first contestants in the spotlight and after Jennifer Lopez told Scotty to keep doing what he does and Randy commented that Robbie had an off night last night, Ryan announced that Scotty McCreery made it to the top ten, while Robbie Rosen did not.
Next up it was Clint Jun Gamboa, Jordan Dorsey and Jovany Barreto to make it to the stage and Randy tells Clint that he should be in the top ten and Jordan reveals that he should have chosen a John Legend song, it is then revealed that none of them had made it into the top ten. Then it was time for some girls results and Ryan brought up Pia Toscano and Lauren Alaina. Lauren who says she is “just Lauren” when asked about all the comparisons Ryan announced that both Lauren Alaina and Pia Toscano are in the top ten. Ta-Tynisa Wilson and Julie Zorrilla were next up in the spotlight and Ryan told both ladies that they did not make it.
Kendra Chantelle, Ashton Jones and Karen Rodriguez hit the stage next and Ashton is the first one to hear that she did not make it into the top ten. With Kendra and Karen still waiting, Ryan informed us that Karen Rodriguez made it into the top ten while Kendra did not. Then it was time for more of the guys as Jacob Lusk, Casey Abrams and Tim Halperin made it to the spotlight and Jacob Lusk was the first one informed that he made it into the top ten. Casey and Tim were left on stage and then told that Casey Abrams made it into the top ten and Tim did not.
Next up on American Idol’s live results were Thia Megia, Lauren Turner and Naima Adedapo for their results. Naima was told first that she was not in the top ten, leaving Lauren and Thia and only one spot, and Ryan then told Thia Megia that she had made it into the top ten and Lauren did not. Brett Loewenstern and Paul McDonald were next on the stage and with only two spots left in the top ten for the men, only one of them would be getting through and it would be Paul McDonald who made it into the top ten while Brett did not.
The finale two spots were about to be filled as Haley Reinhart and Rachel Zevita headed to the stage and after America voted, Haley Reinhart was in the top ten and Rachel was not. Stefano Langone and James Durbin were up next and Ryan revealed that the final guy who would be in the top ten after the votes was James Durbin and not Stefano. Now with three more wild card spots remaining, the judges chose six people to perform again and sing for their life in hopes of making one of those wild card spots. Jennifer said they would choose six total, three guys and three girls to sing one more time.
First up to sing for her life was Ashton Jones who decided to perform a Jennifer Hudson tune. The judges loved her with Steven telling her she brought it, Jennifer saying she deserved to be there and Randy telling her he loved her attitude. Then it was time for a guy to sing for his life and the judges first choice was Stefano Langone who performed “I need you now” and Randy said he loved that song choice and he did it justice. Jennifer was shaken by his performance and told him he did really well while Steven told him he brought it once again.
Kendra Chantelle was next up to sing for her life with her version of “Georgia on my mind” and after a powerful performance Randy told her she rocked it at the end and we quickly moved on to the next performance. Jovany Barreto was up next singing “Angel” by Jon Secada and he decided to take a cue from Karen and sang Spanish. Jennifer was the only judge to comment by saying he did all he could do. The final girl chosen to perform was Naima Adedapo, which meant Julie Zorrilla, Rachel Zevita and Ta-Tynisa Wilson were headed home. Naima performed “For all we know” and after a touching performance Steven once again said “you brought it for me”.
For the guys final performance Randy announced that they would love to hear Robbie sing again, so Robbie Rosen it was while Clint Jun Gamboa, Jordan Dorsey, Tim Halperin and Brett Loewenstern were headed home. Robbie decided to try his version of Elton John’s “Sorry seems to be the hardest part” and Randy said “the Robbie we fell in love with” is back. The judges said they needed some more time to choose, despite that it was live television and to fill in the time we got to see Jennifer Lopez’s new music video for her single “On the floor” which was pretty good.
After a quick break, the judges revealed the wild cards would go to Ashton Jones, Stefano Langone and Naima Adedapo making our top ten a top thirteen and our final group. Be sure to tune in next week at 8 pm EST on Wednesday to see the top 13 perform on Fox!
