Giuliana & Bill: Giuliana Rancic hosted a party at The Pool After Dark inside Harrah’s Resort over the weekend in Atlantic City. The busy E! News host and her husband Bill will soon begin shooting another season of their hit reality TV show Giuliana & Bill. The couple has enjoyed recent success with their book: I Do! Now What?: Secrets, Stories and Advice from a Madly-in-Love Couple.
During the past year, Giuliana and Bill have bravely shared their fertility struggles. Their faith has been especially important to them in their journey to start a family. Reality TV Magazine’s Veronica Dudo caught up with the celebrity news personality to talk about her faith, fertility struggles, reality show and what it’s really like working with Ryan Seacrest and Joan Rivers!
Welcome to Atlantic City, have you been here before?
Thank you! Not in years actually, as a kid because I’m from Maryland so I would come with my parents we would drive here from Maryland a few hours so I haven’t been here as an adult.
Are you enjoying your visit?
This is awesome, so cool. Oh my God I love it, so far so good, everyone’s been so cool, I love the East Coast mentality that’s where I’m from so it’s just nice after living in LA for 10 years it’s nice to come back to the East Coast and be with my people.
You and Bill have been very open about encountering fertility issues. How has that impacted your life?
When we first decided to go public with our infertility struggles it was a really hard decision because I was shameful and embarrassed. I thought, my God I’m like the only person who goes through this. I come from a big Italian family, no one’s ever had any issues and so I felt really embarrassed about it. But, now that I’ve come forward, it’s incredible the amount of women that we’ve helped. As much as we’ve helped them, they’ve helped me in the sense that I didn’t know how many girls out there were going through this: girls in their 20′s, their 30′s; it’s pretty incredible so in an effort to help women by telling my story, they actually helped me in a lot of ways by sharing their stories and making me feel like I’m not alone and it’s great. I really encourage anyone out there who’s in my boat to not hide it and talk about it because you’d be surprised once you reveal it, how many people you know who also have gone through it even a cousin, or a sister that you had no idea. So, it’s good to have a great hubby who helps you through it, my husband’s the best and I couldn’t have done it without him.
What are your plans at the moment for starting a family?
We’re holding off on any medical stuff as far as IVF a lot of people say sometimes when you forget about it, that’s when it happens so 2011 we’re hoping is going to be the year of fun; no needles, no ultrasounds, nothing, just see if God gives it to us naturally. It’s all part of God’s plan whatever happens, we’re very religious, we go to church every Sunday; so my husband and I feel like it’s all part of the bigger plan.
What are some upcoming projects?
Looks like we’re going to do a season four of our show which is really exciting, so we’ll start taping that in about two weeks and then we just had a book come out, I Do! Now What? a few months ago and that’s doing really well still, which is really incredible; just E! News and I have Fashion Police and I tape that every week with Joan Rivers.
Joan Rivers has been in the business a long time, what has your experience been working with her?
Joan Rivers is wittier and smarter than 20 year olds, she knows more! She’ll be like, ‘Oh, did you see Miley Cyrus’ new boyfriend?’ I’m like, ‘Joan, how do you know about Miley Cyrus’ new boyfriend?’ and she’s just amazing! She taught me so much I probably learned more from Joan than anyone I’ve ever worked with–she’s such a professional, she’s always prepared, she’s always on time, she takes it so seriously still after all these years when a lot of people half her age are just calling it in, phoning it in, Joan still cares so much it’s very inspirational.
Viewers see you and Ryan Seacrest co-hosting on E! News how is your working relationship?
It’s good we’re like brother and sister at this point. We pick on each other all the time! He picks on me more than I pick on him but now it’s like one big eye roll. I’m always rolling my eyes at him but I love him. It’s funny, deep down he always says he thinks I have a crush on him I’m like oh please! It’s like having a crush on your brother. I’m like no, you’ve got a crush on me but I’ve got a good hubby and now Ryan has a new girlfriend who’s beautiful and so sweet, Julianne-I’m happy for them, I hope everything works out because they’re such a cute couple, really cute.
