America’s Next Great Restaurant investor and celebrity chef Curtis Stone seems to be all over the television these days and that is probably because he has an exclusive deal with NBC Networks. As their resident chef he appears twice a month on the The Today Show to share cooking tips and tricks as well as his appearances on The Biggest Loser. So how did Curtis get his start on television? You may remember Curtis Stone from the hit TLC series “Take Home Chef” but that was not his first gig, in fact Curtis started out on the show “Surfing the Menu” which ran for three seasons in 26 countries before making his United States debut in 2006.
According to his NBC bio Curtis “left Victoria University in 1994 at the age of 18 to follow his passion for food. His strong will and love for quality cuisine led to a job cooking at The Savoy Hotel. Once a qualified chef, Stone began traveling throughout Europe with his best mate. Three months into his travels, Stone arrived in London broke and in need of a job. Determined to fulfill his dream of working in the world’s best restaurants, he walked into legendary Chef Marco Pierre White’s kitchen and offered to work for free in exchange for the opportunity to work alongside the three-star Michelin genius.” Wow, it is amazing how far he has come – Curtis will also be hosting the upcoming season of Top Chef Masters on NBC’s sister network, Bravo and has also competed on NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice.
