Last night on American Idol on FOX we watched as the top 12 took the stage with songs from the year they were born. Tonight we saw the results as well as a performance by season nine winner Lee DeWyze! Keep reading to find out who was sent home this week!
American Idol kicked off the top 12 elimination results show with a performance of “Born To Be Wild” sung by the guys mixed with Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” sung by the girls and of course it would not be complete without the Ford Music Video. Ryan Seacrest then announced that the compilation album was released this week and everyone in the audience was given a free copy before it was time for some results. Jacob Lusk, Lauren Alaina and Casey Abrams were the first three called up to the stage and Jacob is the first one told that he is safe. With Lauren and Casey left Ryan eased Lauren’s mind by sending her to safety and then focused on Casey who was also sent to safety.
Next Ryan called up Haley Reinhart and Paul McDonald for the next round of reviews and after going over their performances from last night, Paul was sent to safety and Haley was told she was in the bottom three for the second week in a row. After a brief commercial break it was time for our reigning champion, Lee DeWyze to take the stage and perform his new single “Beautiful Like You” and I have to be honest, I missed the show last season so this was the first I have heard him, and in my opinion it was a beautiful song. The crowd loved Lee as well as they were on their feet and clapping along with his performance and Lee told us that it was great to be back.
Time for more results on American Idol and Ryan called up Scotty McCreery, Pia Toscano and James Durbin to the stage and after reviewing Scotty’s performance last night, Ryan sent Scotty to the couch and to safety. Then it was Pia’s turn and after reviewing her performance she was also sent to safety. James was up next and Steven said he saw a little of himself when James performs and then James was also sent to safety. Stefano Langone and Naima Adedapo were next up to the stage and after a quick review of their performances, Stefano was deemed safe while Naima was sent to the bottom three with Haley. Thia Megia and Karen Rodriguez were next up and Thia was told she was safe as Karen was in the bottom three yet again.
Finally after a rocking performance by The Black Eyed Peas, it was time for more results and the ladies were brought back up to the stage. Naima was then sent to safety and we were left with Karen and Haley in the bottom two. Karen was then told she was the contestant with the least amount of votes and Haley was sent to safety. In her last chance for the judges to save her, Karen performed Mariah Carey’s “Hero” while surprisingly adding her own Spanish twist into it. After the performance Randy announced that the decision was not unanimous and they would not be using the save tonight – Karen would be going home. From the looks of Jennifer, my guess is that she voted to keep Karen. Good luck to Karen Rodriguez!
