Though the rest of us are just getting to know Lea Black, for years, The Real Housewives of Miami star’s name has been well-known by some pretty powerful political figures. How powerful? During his 2008 bid for the White House, Barack Obama made a personal call to Black, asking her to host his first fundraiser in the state of Florida. That powerful! Now, using her newfound celebrity from the Bravo reality series, Lea Black has caused quite a stir by writing an opinion piece on The Huffington Post website which trashes Sarah Palin and the rest of the Republican Party. And yes — she somehow manages to get in another swipe at her RHOM co-star, Cristy Rice. What did she say?
In her Huffington Post article, titled “Reality Check,” Lea Black has a few words for former Vice-Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin:
“I have some friendly advice, from one reality star to another: Save the ‘domestic’ drama for your reality show!,” writes Black.
The fundraiser later went on to slam Palin in an interview with E!, referring to her as the “sideshow” of the “circus” that the Republican Party has become. Ouch!
So what prompted Lea Black’s rather public rant? The star says that it’s actually part of the reason that she decided to become a Real Housewife…
“I’m the mother of a nine-year-old boy who deserves a world of peace and prosperity,” she writes. “That concern has led me to commit to vocal action over silence to help in some small way, and the power of television amplifies that voice.”
And of course, Lea Black also used that amplified voice to once again let everyone know that Cristy Rice did indeed crash her fundraising gala, likening her to who else, but Speaker of the House, Rep. Boehner. (?!)
“Well, I take Rep. Boehner ‘at this word’ that he’s not playing politics, just like I take the word of one of my fellow Housewives when she says she paid to attend my annual gala.”
At what point is it considered to be beating a dead– er, pig?!
