Gary Busey’s Celebrity Apprentice co-stars may find him to be a bit strange, but the eccentric actor has improved in many ways since his days of heavy drug use. In an interview with Hollywood 411, which airs this Sunday, Busey opens up about the significant changes he’s made in life, his upcoming wedding to girlfriend Stephanie Sampson, and the horrific accident that inspired him to donate his winnings from the NBC reality show to The Center For Head Injury Services.
“I was difficult in the past because I didn’t get along with myself,” Busey tells TV Guide Network’s Hollywood 411. “I know better now.”
After years of reckless behavior and drug abuse, Gary Busey credits his girlfriend, actress Stephanie Sampson, and the couple’s 1-year-old son, Luke, with helping him to kick his bad habits and change his life.
Now, Busey and Sampson are planning a wedding that celebrates both their union and their New Age beliefs.
“We are going to do the ceremony in Sedona, Arizona. It’s a very spiritual place,” says Gary. “It’s got three vortexes in a two-and-a-half mile distance, which is a straight connection to the spiritual realm of the supernatural.”
As for his stint on Celebrity Apprentice, Gary’s playing for a charity that’s close to his heart…or rather, his head.
In 1998, the actor was involved in a motorcycle accident and suffered a brain injury. His winnings from the reality show will be donated to The Center For Head Injury Services.
“Wear your helmets,” advises Busey. “And I know what I’m talking about.”
Gary Busey’s full Hollywood 411 interview will air this Sunday (March 20) at 7|6c on the TV Guide Network.
Then, catch Gary playing for The Center For Head Injury Services on an all new episode of Celebrity Apprentice at 9|8c on NBC.
