The new season of Dancing with the Stars is set to premiere tonight and the latest cast of stars are ready to debut their new moves. While some are up for the challenge, such as NFL star Hines Ward, others such as Cheers star Kirstie Alley are nervous. Other stars, such as talk host Wendy Williams are finding the training intense. Will some of the stars buckle under pressure early?
Wendy Williams spoke with the New York Daily news about her five hour practice sessions. “It’s just me, Tony, some camera and production people,” she says. “It’s like we’re on an island. It isn’t even the kind of thing where you bring your husband and son to watch. They’ll see me dance for the first time on television, just like everyone else.” There is definitely no tension between these two. Wendy explains, “He’s a wonderful dancer, the best partner and instructor I could ask for. And I know what viewers look for. This is part reality TV. But the look you give your dancing partner is not the same as a romantic look.”
Kendra Wilkinson’s professional partner, Louis Van Amstel plans on using Kendra’s famous assets in the competition. Speaking with Access Hollywood, “Kendra is going to use her money maker-well, she has a few body parts that are money makers. So we’re deciding that the derriere is going to start first.” Kendra has no problem flaunting her famous body. “That’s cool with me. Everybody knows my ‘Go, Kendra’ dance, my booty shake and stuff. We’ll definitely add it in. But it’s going to be a little bit cleaned up!”
Football champion-winning star Hines Ward likes to dance but doesn’t consider himsself a dancer. He revealed to ABC that his biggest challenge is going to be, “Juggling my footsteps with my posture. I would say remembering to keep my posture is most likely going to be the biggest handicap for me.” However, he is looking to other former champions as inspiration. “I am always up for a good challenge and would love to see what I can do in a field completely foreign to me. Besides, if Emmitt Smith and Jerry Rice can do it, so can I.”
Kirstie Alley confessed her own insecurities on Twitter. “Yikes…only seven days away from DWTS…feels a little like that dream of being in highschool taking finals u forgot to study for…naked.” Let’s just hope she remembers to wear her clothes when she shows up to dance!
