Last night on American Idol on FOX we watched as the top 11 took the stage with classic Motown songs. Tonight we saw the results as well as a performance by alumni Jennifer Hudson and also the country super duo Sugarland! Keep reading to find out if your favorite survived another week!
American Idol kicked off the top 11 elimination results show with Marc Anthony – yes we got to see Marc Anthony work with the contestants before the performances last night on their pitch issues. Then we saw a performance by the top 11 of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and in a shocking twist that almost stopped Steven Tyler’s heart out popped Motown legend Stevie Wonder who sang “Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I’m Yours” and then asked Steven how he was doing. Joined by the top 11 they all began to sing “Happy Birthday” to Steven Tyler, who turns 63 this week and was left speechless.
After the Ford music video it was time for some results and Ryan called Lauren Alaina, Pia Toscano and Scotty McCreery up to the stage and though Ryan tried to fool them, they were all deemed safe and into the top 10. After a short commercial break we were back with a rocking country performance of “Stuck Like Glue” by Sugarland and then we learned about what a huge wrestling fan James is. Then Ryan called up James Durbin and Paul McDonald to the stage for more results and Ryan told them both that they were not safe….really not safe and out popped Hulk Hogan who revealed that both James and Paul were safe and then he joked that Ryan Seacrest was not safe.
Next up to the stage were Jacob Lusk, Thia Megia and Stefano Langone and Jacob was the first one sent to safety. With Thia and Stefano left, Ryan revealed that they were both in the bottom three tonight. Casey Abrams, Naima Adedapo and Haley Reinhart were called up to the stage next and Naima was the first one deemed safe and told she will be attending the top 10 tour. With Haley and Casey left, one of them would be in the bottom and one of them would be safe. Ryan revealed that the person joining Stefano and Thia would be Casey!
Next up was Grammy and Oscar winner as well as Idol alumni Jennifer Hudson for a performance of “Where You At?” and Jennifer proved once again why she was a finalist on the show. Then Ryan was back with more results and announced that Thia was safe and would be joining the top ten. That meant that either Casey or Stefano would be singing for their life tonight. Finally it was time to reveal the person with the lowest amount of votes, and in a shocker it turned out that Casey Abrams was in danger of elimination unless the judges would save him.
Casey started to sing for his life, and after a few notes Randy cut him off. Randy turned to Steven and asked if he needed to hear anymore. Steven shook his head no, Randy said they knew he could sing and Steven went on to inform Casey that they would indeed be saving him tonight! So no one was eliminated from the competition tonight! Congratulations to Casey – the judges definitely made the right decision to use the save. However, this means that two contestants will be eliminated next week and Ryan also announced that it will not be a top 10 tour, instead it will be a top 11 tour! That wraps up the live results show. Be sure to tune in next week as the top 11 take the stage once again.
