Kirstie Alley and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy surprised everyone with their flirty cha cha cha routine on the premiere of Dancing with the Stars. Kirstie had been tweeting about how nervous she was in the days leading up to the premiere. Now, Kirstie reveals that while she didn’t have high hopes for her first dance, the support of a famous friend cheering her on in the audience helped.
Kirstie told Us Magazine, “It felt lucky. That was my ideal outcome. Not even the scores, just people’s reaction. That was the reaction we’d been getting in the rehearsal studio so that’s what I wanted to see here.”
Even more surprising was how sexy Kirstie and Maksim’s routine was. “It’s totally fake! That’s where all the acting comes in.” I imagine it isn’t tough to fake it with Maks.
Kirstie credits her fans on Twitter for helping her. “The Twitter followers have been great. It’s the only social media I’m on so I talk to them all the time. I haven’t twittered all day. I thought I’d haveplent of time and I didn’t.” While Kirstie did not have time to Twitter, she revealed a famous friend was in the audience and Twittered for her. “My friend Kelly Preston was here in the audience and did the cutest thing. She grabbed my phone and said, ‘This is Kelly Preston talking for Kirstie-vote right now!’ That was so sweet.”
Kirstie and the rest of the celebrity cast will find out on next Tuesday who will have the unfortunate distinction of being the first cast member to be eliminated.
