Last night on American Idol on FOX we were stunned to learn that Casey Abrams was the finalist with the lowest number of votes this week. After Casey Abrams “sang for his life” or at least attempted to since Randy cut him off, the judges used their save to make sure this talented young man would remain in the competition. Next week, Casey will get the chance to prove to America that he belongs in the competition and attempt to earn their votes as the top 11 will take on the 1980′s. Keep reading for more details!
American Idol’s Casey Abrams survived elimination last night, but only because the judges decided to save him as he had the lowest amount of America’s 30 million votes. It looked as if it they did not even need to think about, the judges knew right away that they would save Casey – they must have discussed it earlier in the evening. In any event, a relieved Casey Abrams will get the chance to perform again and try to earn more votes from America next week as the top 11 tackle the 1980′s.
According to a FOX press release on Wednesday, March 30 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed), the Top 11 finalists – Casey Abrams, Naima Adedapo, Lauren Alaina, James Durbin, Stefano Langone, Jacob Lusk, Scotty McCreery, Paul McDonald, Thia Megia, Haley Reinhart and Pia Toscano – return to the IDOL stage to sing hits from the 1980s. For the first time ever, the Top 11 will travel the country this summer as part of the “American Idols LIVE! Tour 2011.” Cities, venues and dates will be announced at a later date.
During the live results show on Thursday, March 31 (8:00-9:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) tune in to find out who receives enough votes to stay in the competition and who is sent home. In addition, Season Three IDOL winner Fantasia will perform her latest hit, “Collard Greens & Cornbread,” and will.i.am of The Black Eyed Peas and Academy Award and Grammy winner Jamie Foxx will perform their first-ever musical collaboration on the IDOL stage. The duo will sing “Hot Wings (I Wanna Party),” an original song written for the highly anticipated animated feature film “Rio.”
