The Amazing Race has many extra features on its web site, and previously featured a video series called Elimination Station. The videos featured the eliminated racers hanging out in seclusion and was a fun way for fans to see their favorite racers interact even though they were off the show. This season, The Amazing Race is not doing Elimination Station. However, a fun new video series is featured, called “Phil’s Video Diary.” The videos are host Phil Keoghan’s online show that gives viewers a chance to see what happened behind the scenes of the race.
Keoghan is notorious for his love of traveling. While he gives some facts on the show, the video diary gives him a better opportunity to show off his knowledge. So far, 5 episodes are up on the site. In episode one, Phil prepares to meet the eleven teams for the Unfinished Business Season. The episode also shows how quickly the crew had to scramble to get to the Pit Stop due to a flight delay. In episode two, Phil reveals that he has not showered since leaving Los Angeles and cleans his hair outside on Shelly Beach. In episode three, Phil visits one of his favorite spots, Japan. He is shown enjoying the scenery while waiting on racers to arrive. In episode four, Phil visits China and shares some grilled yak with the crew. In episode 5, the film crew arrives in Kunming and Phil notes that the competition was ramped up on this leg and is interested to see who will come in first.
The video diaries are a fun way for fans to see the race through Phil’s eyes. Keep watching his video diary online for more behind the scenes information and tune into The Amazing Race on Sunday to see where the racers and Phil travel to next.
