FOX announced on Friday that the remaining 11 finalists on American Idol would be performing songs from the 1980′s this week, but now it is being reported that this week’s theme has changed to songs by Elton John. What brought on this change? Keep reading for more details!
The final 11 contestants have gone from the 1980′s to Elton John tunes for this week’s performances, just in time for the superstar’s 64th birthday apparently. The show posted this on their official Twitter page late Friday “UPDATE: It’s official, next week’s theme is Elton John songs! And we wish the Rocket Man a very happy 64th birthday today!” and more recently posted “Anyone else brushing up on the Elton John catalog for this week’s show like we are?” as of this morning, so it looks like it is an official change of themes this week.
While we don’t have the official song list that the contestants will perform, we can assume it’s pretty similar to what has been done in the past and hopefully we will get a visit from Elton John himself. Since Paul McDonald has already done Elton John, do you think he will have an advantage this week over the other finalists? What do you think of the change of theme? Would you have preferred the 1980′s instead? Comment below and share your thoughts with and then be sure to tune in on Wednesday to see the top 11 take the stage and tackle the Rocket Man!
