The first live results show of Dancing with the Stars kicks off with the professional dancers hitting the floor to spice things up. The dance was choreographed by Maksim Chmerkovskiy and features the new Dancing with the Stars Troupe of dancers. They get a standing ovation from the crowd and judges. Host Tom Bergeon immediately jumps into revealing the results. Keep reading to see who was safe and who went home.
The first couple who is saved is Hines Ward and Kym Johnson. Also revealed to come back next week are Chris Jericho and Cheryl Burke. Sugar Ray Leonard and Anna Trebunskaya must wait to sweat it out with the remaining couples.
While the couples wait for the next set of results, controversial singer Chris Brown takes the stage to sing “Tonight is the Night.” He is accompanied by a group young dancers, who sometimes dance in sync with him. Maybe Chris Brown should be on the next season!
The next three couples to learn their fate are the three actors: Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas, and Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff. A backstage video is shown after last night’s performance. Kirstie said of her much-talked about ending kiss with Maks, “People are wondering if there was tongue involved and that’s going to be a secret for now.” The first couple revealed to be safe is Ralph and Karina. Also safe are Kirstie and Maks. Maks whirls Kirstie around. Tom tells Chelsea and Mark that they are also safe.
Backstage, Brooke chats with Chelsea and Mark and wonders if they will go traditional or push the envelope like they did with their jive. Mark promises to obey the judges, but still entertain. Ralph admits his body is sore, but is going to continue attacking. Kirstie says she was scared but was happy to see her friends in the audience. Her goal for next week is to do better and then she jokes she will do interpretive dance. Tom jokes it is all interpretive dance in the beginning of the season.
The Dancing with the Stars Troupe introduces themselves and includes: Peta the vivacious blonde, Tristan the Irish looker, Ted Maks’s mini-me, Nicole the flirt, and Oksana the tiny powerhouse. They are happy to bring some youth and fun to Dancing with the Stars. The troupe returns to the floor for another dance. Their debut is a hit.
Mike Catherwood and Lacey Schwimmer, who had the lowest point total from the judges, and Romeo and Chelsie Hightower come to the dance floor to learn their results. Romeo and Chelsie are relieved to learn they are safe. Mike and Lacey pretend to be surprised that they will learn their fate at the end of the show.
A video is shown of the couples and how well they get along. Ralph thinks his chemistry with Karina was instantaneous and she energies him. Romeo says he and Chelsie have a happy marriage. Kendra thinks Louis understands the way she learns. Chelsea thinks she and Mark are obnoxious together. Hines jokes that Kym keeps trying to touch his bum. Tony finds himself very entertained by Wendy. Chris notes that when Cheryl is mad she gets a wooden smile and annunciates her words.
Chris Brown returns to perform a special version of “Forever.” The dancers are dressed in futuristic outfits with funky lights on them. They go very well with Chris’s funky moves. It is a very entertaining performance, and no chairs are thrown.
Brooke waits backstage with Petra Nemcova, Wendy Williams and Kendra. Petra believes she got the scores she deserved, and hopes for another chance to return and get better scores. Wendy thinks she should have received 10′s across the board. Kendra claims she is not nervous, but Louis thinks she will be once she is on the podium. The three ladies go to the podium with Dmitry, Tony and Louis to learn their results. The first pair revealed to be safe is Kendra and Louis. Petra and Dmitry are also still in the game. Wendy and Tony must wait to see if they are still in the show.
Wendy and Tony, Anna and Sugar Ray, and Mike and Lacey return to learn their fate. Wendy and Tony are revealed to be safe first. Judge Len Goodman has great respect for the bottom two couples because neither has dance experience and put their all into their dances. The pair with the lowest combined judge and audience score is Mike and Lacey. Mike asserts he has had nothing but a pleasurable experiences and thanks the judges and cast. Mike boasts that Lacey is beautiful on the inside and he has made a lifelong friend. He jokes that he is on the Mount Rushmore of terrible dances. The two are excited that they get to meet Britney Spears on Jimmy Kimmel. The carefree couple take to the floor for one last dance.
