Survivor: Redemption Island — Ratings Holding Steady
March 29, 2011 10:00 AM by Ryan Haidet
When Survivor: Redemption Island premiered several weeks ago, the first episode set a record for having the lowest ratings in the show’s 11-year history. Up directly against American Idol performances on Wednesday nights, Survivor: Redemption Island is still holding steady despite the decline in ratings. How many viewers has Survivor been getting? Read on to find out!
After adjusted numbers for last Wednesday night was reported, TVByTheNumbers reported that Survivor: Redemption Island brought in 11.003 million viewers with a 3.1 in adults 18-49. Once again, Survivor came in second place to American Idol as it drew 23.946 million viewers with a 7.7 in adults 18-49.
Survivor: Redemption Island lost some viewers last Wednesday when compared to the premiere on February 16, which had 11.17 million viewers. The second episode saw a slight gain in viewership as 11.2 million people tuned in.
I think Survivor has held up well against American Idol so far. With each week still bringing in more than 11 million viewers consistently coming in second place, I am proud of Survivor‘s performance.
And CBS seems just as confident. Despite the dip in ratings this season, the network announced the show’s renewal earlier this month. And if you haven’t heard yet host Jeff Probst is back on board for both seasons, which mark 23 and 24.
Survivor: Redemption Island continues Wednesday night at 8 p.m. on CBS.
