American Idol: Scotty McCreery And Casey Abrams Top The Twitter Charts!

March 30, 2011 09:00 AM by Lisa Princ

While it may come as no surprise that FOX‘s American Idol season ten country crooner is at the top of the list on the Twitter chart for followers of all the contestants, but surprisingly, Casey Abrams, the contestant with the lowest number of votes from last week is in right behind Scotty in 2nd place. Keep reading for more details!

Is Twitter really a good indicator of fan bases? American Idol’s country boy Scotty McCreery tops for the show with 49,173 followers, but Scotty has also never in been in the bottom three although we have no idea how many votes he does rack up every week. Surprisingly though, Casey Abrams comes in 2nd place with 47,824 followers, but are they actually voting for him? If not, they definitely need to be after his scare of elimination last week. As for the rest of the finalists, Paul McDonald came in 3rd with 40,295 followers, Pia Toscano came in 4th with 34,271 and Lauren Alaina is hot on her heels with a total of 34,250.

Thia Megia holds 6th place with 32,922 followers, and oddly enough is ahead of our resident rocker James Durbin who comes in 7th with 32,772. Stefano Langone holds eighth place with 30,340 and then we see the numbers drop drastically as Jacob Lusk holds only 19,864 fans and Haley Reinhart who has been in the bottom three twice now has 19,043. Naima Adedapo actually does not hold the 11th spot, Karen Rodriguez does. Naima falls into the 12th spot with 15,538 followers. Do you think these numbers are an indication of voters? If they are, Naima is in trouble, but somehow I think the majority of these folks are either not voting or are following multiple finalists.

Most people have only one Twitter account. A fan can vote for his/her favorite Idol countless times. As long as Idol’s format allows an individual to vote multiple times, the issuse isn’t just how many fans a person has but how many times each is willing to vote.
