The Biggest Loser said goodbye to Jennifer Jacobs this week as Jennifer made the decision to go without a trainer which led to a complete lack of weight loss. Jennifer is keeping up her hard work at home now and here is what she wanted to share with viewers and fans in a post elimination press interview.
Question: How much of a factor in your elimination was it not having Brett to train with this week?
Jennifer Jacobs: I am definitely not discounting the fact that is it important to have trainers with you when working toward such a great goal. I feel as though my demise was due to being over trained. We took Brett’s instructions over the phone calls, we did have phone call time with him, we checked in with him periodically throughout the day and in the evenings and we really did do the homework that he had given to us. And being that we were on the ranch for 13 weeks, we thought that under the instruction of Brett, we would be able to definitely stay here for yet another week. And I think really what it boiled down to was, we were so dead-set on a goal, we were really the product of over training. Courtney had been experiencing a plateau for a while, and I was to the point where I was getting so small that every week it was getting harder and harder for me to lose weight.
Question: What has changed for the better for you now?
Jennifer Jacobs: Going into this I was very confident in the person I was in terms of moral and ethic. I always that person my friends went to for advice, but I was not happy with my exterior. Now I realize that outer shell was not the true person that I really was. Now what I find myself doing is living each day as my true self. I really am thankful for The Biggest loser to help me to see that – it’s been like a rebirth for me. Now that I dropped all this weight, I finally fit in.
Question: Can elaborate on being “over trained”?
Jennifer Jacobs: When you’re used to working out six to eight hours a day on The Biggest Loser ranch, it’s funny because your limits of how far you can go go beyond what you thought humanly possible. But really what I found was the case, Courtney and I, we had a lot of free time believe it or not, when we were in Ojai, and all that time was spent either in the gym or doing some form of exercise. We would walk two or three miles to the gym, work out, we would take a few spin classes, we would do sprint intervals, and we would walk back, we would take hikes and we were finding that we were actually hitting our burn at about 2 or 3 o’clock in the afternoon. You know, Jillian had always told us ‘When you hit your burn, go to bed.’ But it was 2 or 3 o’clock in the afternoon, and it didn’t really allow us to do that. So we kept going. We did make sure that we got enough rest, but at the end of the day, really, I think that’s what played a big part in the fact that my body was just not willing to give up any more weight that week than it had in previous weeks unfortunately.
Question: What was your reaction to the cast member sneaking chips?
Jennifer Jacobs: You know, I think one thing you have to remember is that every person comes to the ranch with issues. I can’t say that I experienced other contestants cheating, but I do know at times it’s a struggle while you are on the journey. Healthy or not anything in mass quantity can work against you on the scale. If I had seen it, I would have stepped in, to give that person support and help them get through it.
Question: If Courtney had fought harder to keep Brett, would you have agreed?
Jennifer Jacobs: Absolutely, if I had known Courtney was having that much anxiety about not having a trainer I would have definitely, in a moments notice, said you’re right Courtney, let’s do this.
Question: Can you elaborate on your love of music and is there a possibility of music in your future?
Jennifer Jacobs: I will definitely be pursuing a career in music and nothing can stop me now from pursuing that dream. Now that I feel so much more comfortable being in front of people – I mean, when you get up on a scale in front of millions of people and can take all your clothes off, pretty much, and weigh in and show your progress over a period of time, really, there’s no excuse for me to hide anymore from wanting to get up on stage and perform. Now I can definitely pursue that, and in the coming months, I would expect to see an album of my own music which will be motivational music with a great beat, a great message, something that people can drop on their iPod and just jam out at the gym and really just push themselves during their workouts. I am so excited about this.
Question: We saw your brother at the end of the show, can you tell us about your support system at home?
Jennifer Jacobs: My entire family has struggled with weight since I can remember. My brother was fortunate enough to take off 70 lbs and keep it off. He was a major driving force for our family. My mom has also lost 50 lbs and my boyfriend has lost 90 lbs while I was at the ranch. He looks incredible and we’re looking forward to having a relationship that’s filled with a lot of first-time experiences together, whether it’s taking part in races or going on vacations where you’re active and you take part in things that you never thought you could do, whether it’s scuba diving, or rock climbing, etc. It’s really almost like the world is my oyster now, and I enjoy all of these new experiences, and not only that, but I enjoy having a partner that I can do these things with.
Best of luck to Jennifer Jacobs, we look forward to seeing you at the finale! Be sure to tune in Tuesday for a brand new episode of The Biggest Loser on NBC!
