America’s Next Top Model Host and fashion adviser Jay Manuel debuted his fashion line this week. His new line is called ATTITUDE and a collection for Sears. The Toronto native debuted the splashy line at Toronto’s fashion week.
Fashionista.com reports that the show ran an hour late. They also report that the show “opened with a mini-montage that documented Manuel’s deep involvement with the label, from concept to completion.” The show’s special guest was model Yasmin Warsame. The collection contained worldly inspirations. Jay came out to strut the catwalk after the 37 looks were modeled. It was also reported that Jay will do several more collections for Sears.
Jay’s line features an ensemble of women’s coats, accessories, shoes and bags. The sizes range from 0 to 18 and tend to have the look of classic with high-end touches. Sears wanted the line to be for the “stylish woman on the go.” Speaking to the Toronto Sun, Jay said of his line, “It’s all about empowering women. We wanted a very strong brand identity. I tell the girls on America’s Next Top Model all the time, you have to breath, eat and live fashion. You have to be 150% in this.”
Unfortunately, Tyra Banks was not in attendance. Tyra has been busy attending classes at Harvard Business School. While she was unable to attend, perhaps she will be able to offer Jay some marketing advice for his new and future fashion lines. Jay could also use some of the models from America’s Next Top Model to model and help sell his new line.
