Survivor: Redemption Island — Finale Date Announced

April 04, 2011 10:00 AM by Ryan Haidet

Who will outwit, outplay and outlast the competition to become the sole Survivor?  Who will walk away with the $1 million grand prize after surviving all 39 days?  It won’t be much longer until the winner of Survivor: Redemption Island is crowned.  CBS has announced the finale date, which is just a few weeks away on Sunday, May 15.  Read on for more information about the upcoming finale!

In typical Survivor fashion, the finale features two hours of pre-taped content before host Jeff Probst reveals the winner in front of a live studio audience.  That is followed immediately by the live one-hour reunion show with Probst sitting down with all 18 castaways.

The finale will take place at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City where “The Late Show With David Letterman” is filmed.  Survivor has used this location for the finale of every even-numbered edition since season six — Survivor: The Amazon.  The first finale to take place in New York City was season four — Survivor: Marquesas — where the winner was crowned from a set in Central Park.

As the live reunion show wraps up, Survivor: Redemption Island will close with Probst revealing a tease about the upcoming 23rd season.

Yours truly will once again be at the finale to bring you exclusive red carpet interviews with the finalists.  Stay tuned!
