American Idol: Top Nine Live Results!

April 07, 2011 05:58 PM by Lisa Princ

American Idol on FOX is back tonight for the live results of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performances by the top nine finalists. Did you vote last night? Keep reading to see if your favorite made it through another week!

American Idol on FOX kicked off the top nine live results show with a Rock and Roll medley performance by the top nine. Then we saw the Ford music video followed by a clip of the contestants being visited by Russell Brand prior to their performances last night. Then it was time for some results. Casey Abrams, Stefano Langone and Lauren Alaina were the first three up to face their fate and after Ryan revealed that Kelly Clarkson tweeted about her crush on Casey in which Casey declined to comment on, they then reviewed their performances from last night. Lauren was the first one sent to safety, followed by Casey. Stefano, however was the first one of the evening sent to the bottom three.

Next up was a performance of “Unchained Melody” done by season four alumni finalist and Tony Award nominee Constantine Maroulis. Then we got a look at how Gwen Stefani got involved in the finalists’ wardrobes last night and then it was time for another round of results. Paul McDonald, Scotty McCreery and Pia Toscano were up next for more results and after reviewing their performances and Scotty was the first contestant sent to safety. With Paul and Pia left standing, Paul was the next one sent to safety while Pia was surprisingly sent to the bottom three.

After a commercial break, American Idol was back and we got to watch as the finalists got a media lesson from TMZ which was quite comical and then it was time for more results. James Durbin,  Haley Reinhart and Jacob Lusk were the final three called up to the stage for the results and James was the first finalist sent to the top eight. With Haley and Jacob left standing and in another shocker, Haley was sent to safety while Jacob was sent to the bottom three. So that meant the bottom three tonight were Jacob Lusk, Stefano Langone and Pia Toscano.

As time wound down on American Idol’s live results show, we next saw a performance of “Wild One” by Iggy Pop which was borderline scary for me to be honest, but hey he is a Hall of Famer, right? Then it was time to find out which one of our finalists would be saying goodbye tonight. With Jacob, Pia and Stefano standing together, the lights dimmed and Ryan announced that Jacob was safe, leaving Stefano and Pia awaiting their fate. And in the most shocking elimination of the season so far, Stefano was sent to safety as Pia Toscano would be heading home – wonder if the judges wish they had their save now. Best of luck to Pia Toscano, I am sure this is not the last we will hear of her!

I just got finished watching American Idol tonight. It will be the last time I watch it. The results show was absolute bullshit tonight. There is no way on this Earth that Pia Toscano should have been voted off. She and Jacob Lusk (who was also in the bottom three) are THE MOST talented out of all of them. As much as the show tries to convey that this is a “talent” competition, it’s really nothing but a glorified popularity contest. This really isn’t news to anybody, but I think the show would stop losing its credibility if they would reveal the actual results totals. There are still people complaining that call-in votes are not being tabulated properly.

Am I angry about Pia being eliminated? You damn skippy I’m angry! However, Jacob is still in and Pia made it far enough in the show to get lots of publicity. She is going to make it regardless of the results of A.I. Non winners of the show have out performed all of the winners

Pia gone from American Idol? Unbelievable the amount of talent and mere fact that she was head and shoulders above everyone else on that show vocally is ridiculous that she would be cut. Wonder who rigged this thing.

The look from the judges said it all. This proves that popularity contests don’t work for who deserves it. The best part is there will be far fewer people watching because of this. Even better is that is exactly what should happen. Could you imagine Kelly Clarkson going down like this with 8 others still in the competition?

Honestly she was truly the only contestant who had 95% of the entire package. Vocally superb, image one of the best to ever be on the show who looked as good as she sang. Wardrobe choices were that of a seasoned performer compared to the rest. The ability to tackle music’s toughest songs and a future that will get a recording contract regardless of not getting the nod to move on in the show.

You watch as this group goes on tour. No matter who wins Pia will be the best there hands down above everyone else just like she was week in and week out. There is no doubt she will sell more records than the rest combined.

Pia – continue to concentrate on your craft. Continue to strive forward. Remeber you are the only one who did not need votes to shine every song and every week. The judges know it, the record labels know it and America knows it.

The show just tanked and everyone watching felt it all at the same time. The American Idol show didn’t tank as this is a great opportunity for aspiring singers/musicians, but the public really made a colossal mistake. This show is not about keeping everyone on. You vote for who did the best musically not for who needs help staying on the show.

Great job America you are as lazy voting on talent as you are on politicans.

Would the voting public now be willing to save Pia with a write in vote? The judges got to make a save of an artist so maybe the shows producers will realize this will hurt their ratings and pocketbooks enough to let it be overruled. I say bring her right back next week and make someone on that show absolutely attempt to out perform her.

    It can’t be done.

Has AI gotten the message yet. The public doesn’t vote for talent. They only vote for cute & most of the voters are teenage girls. Stop letting the public vote & leave it to the pros. Then we will not have to see a Pia Toscano, undeniably the most talented performer this season, get dropped. The public are idiots.

American Idol SUCKS. There must have been a large block of votes not counted, or those for Pia were tallied to someone else. There are none of the guys that are as good as Pia. I will not be watching American Idol the rest of this year, and I hope MILLIONS of others will not watch.
