The Amazing Race host Phil Keoghan often uses his celebrity for a good cause. Most recently, he spoke out to raise awareness and charity for his home country of earthquake ravaged New Zealand. Now, he is appearing in a video for Air New Zealand with Richard Simmons.
In the video, Richard Simmons leads a lively dance crew in safety flight instructions. Phil makes an appearance halfway through the video as a passenger, and then breaking out into a hilarious dance interpretation of “The Duck.” He can also be seen dancing again at the end for more mile high madness. When The Amazing Race is no longer airing, Phil looks to have a career as a backup for Richard in Sweatin’ to the Oldies.
Phil tweeted several times about appearing in the video. “Richard Simmons has more energy than anyone I’ve ever met, he made the 80s fun again.” Phil apparently had a fantastic time working with Richard Simmons on the video. “Richard you were fabulous:) and I had a lot of fun working with you. If you haven’t seen it, an airline safety video like no other!”
The New Zealand Fit to Fly safety video went on to top one million views in sixty hours.
In addition to being an unofficial ambassador for his country, Phil also has been raising money for multiple sclerosis with his documentary film “The Ride.” It documents his bike ride across America to help raise money for the National MS organization. It’s awesome to see someone continually using their celebrity status to do good for others and give back to their communities, especially in such a fun way. Well done, Phil!
