American Idol: Top Eight Live Results!

April 14, 2011 05:58 PM by Lisa Princ

American Idol on FOX is back tonight with the live results of last night’s movie music performances. After last week’s shocking elimination, I sure hope you took the time to cast your vote last night. Keep reading to find out which finalist was sent packing tonight!

American Idol’s live results show kicks of tonight after Ryan informs us that there were 53 million votes that came in last night and that the finalists will be performing in groups again tonight. Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery are up first with a performance of “American Honey” by Lady Antebellum and then we saw the top eight dress up as zombies for the Ford music video! Casey Abrams and Haley Reinhart hit the stage next with a rocking Jazz performance and then Lauren, Scotty, Haley and Casey are called back up to stage for some results. Scotty and Lauren were sent back to safety first, followed by Casey who was also deemed safe after the nation voted. Haley, however was not so lucky and was the first person in the bottom three tonight and in my opinion that is one correct for America.

Next up on American Idol we got to see the top eight get a visit from Rob Reiner last night who gave them some movie advice and amazing when asked who would want to be an actor or actress, almost all of them raised their hands. Then we saw the original American Idol, season one winner, Kelly Clarkson perform a duet of their platinum selling single “Don’t You Wanna Stay” with country superstar Jason Aldean. Ryan questioned Kelly about the tweet last week and she admitted to Casey being a cutie.

Jacob, Paul, Stefano and James were up next for a performance of “The Sound of Silence” from the movie “The Graduate” and although they sounded good, two of them would be joining Haley in the bottom three when they were done. After a review of the their performances from last night James Durbin, who had probably the best performance last night was sent to safety. Stefano was up next and he was given the horrible news that he would be joining Haley in the bottom three. With Paul and Jacob left standing, Jacob was sent off to safety while Paul was sent to the bottom three. So that makes Haley, Stefano and Paul the bottom three after the movie song performances.

After a commercial break American Idol was back with Rihanna and a performance of “California King”. So with Paul, Haley and Stefano back on the stage Ryan gives Haley the news that she is safe. Paul and Stefano were the last two standing and the first man to leave the show this season is Paul McDonald! Personally, I think America got it dead wrong this week. Best of luck to you Paul, we will miss your crazy stage presence and unique sound every week. Tune in next Wednesday at 8 pm EST on FOX as the top seven take the American Idol stage once again!

I disagree with you about Paul, he should have gone home long before now. Unfortunately, Casey is still on the show. The judges should never have used their save on him, they should have kept it for Pia.

Diana, I completely agree with you about Casey. I mean he is not bad, but I don’t feel like he has what it takes to win it all and Pia definitely did. I guess that will be a lesson to the judges. As for Paul, he is not the best singer either, but he definitely out performed Haley this week. Haley has had so many bad weeks she shouldn’t still be there, Pia should be in her place :)

I feel since voting is usually pretty way off, next year it should be 50% judges and 50% the rest of us. That way maybe someone shouldn’t be staying when they should be going home. I’ve been saying this for years…..Clay Aiken should have won, even tho’ Daughtry is doing well, he should have gone further or won, I could go on and on…..Pia should be one of the last two standing…..
