Maksim Chmerkovskiy is not the only professional dancer to endure an injury this season on Dancing with the Stars. Cheryl Burke also sustained an injury during the paso doble she performed with partner Chris Jericho. While Cheryl and Chris did not fall like Kirstie Alley and Maks, Cheryl experienced extreme discomfort. Will she be able to finish the competition?
According to People Magazine, minutes after their dance, Cheryl, “felt something rip” in the upper inner thigh and groin region of her left leg. She was treated by medics who applied an icepack. Cheryl was in obvious pain. She said, “There was a move where I get down quickly. It bothered me in rehearsals, but not like this. Now that the adrenaline of the live show is wearing off I’m feeling the pain a bit more.”
Will Cheryl be able to continue dancing? Partner Chris told Access Hollywood that the injury is still bothering her. “It’s still bothering her, but I think the fact that we had a day off, Tuesday was good.” Chris knows his partner well and doesn’t think she wants to give up. “She’s tough, she’s a dancer and it happens. But she did hit the floor hard, I know exactly when it happened and I was like, ‘Ooh!’ in the back of my mind. She wants to go start choreographing, she gets very angsty at this point in time.”
While Cheryl might be experiencing more pain, Chris is ready to get started on their next dance for patriotic week on the show. “I don’t know which Cheryl has in mind but I’m looking forward to it and I’m excited to continue the ball rolling and do better next week than I did this week, that’s all I can ask for.”
