Survivor: Redemption Island — An Explosive Tribal Council

April 17, 2011 11:00 AM by Ryan Haidet

While last week delivered two eliminations, this week’s episode of Survivor: Redemption Island is set to bring one of the “most explosive” Tribal Councils.  At least host Jeff Probst says so.  What sparks this big fight?  Who is involved?  What can we expect?  Read on for more teasers!

During his live tweeting during the show last week, Probst offered this tiny tease: “Okay guys.. I really enjoyed our interactive living room. NEXT WEEK – one of the most explosive TC’s ever. Ever.”

Then in his weekly response to questions on EW.com, Probst reiterated that tease: “Next week has one of the most explosive tribal councils we’ve ever had in all 22 seasons. I imagine it will stir up a bit of water cooler talk.”

So what is all of this explosiveness about?  If the CBS teasers are pointing us in the right direction, I bet it has something to do with Phillip and Steve’s fight back at camp in which the former brings race into the mix.  “When some white folks, they like to take a black man and make him crazy when he makes an argument that you don’t want to hear. …  Anytime somebody of my color gets up in one of your faces, then you feel like I’m a lunatic, I’m crazy.  Yeah, I think that’s what this is all about right now between you and me.”

It’s likely their argument is about a contaminated container of rice, which a CBS press release says, “spawns a controversy that escalates far beyond the matter at hand.”

The upcoming episode, which airs this Wednesday night, has been titled “Rice Wars.”

Survivor: Redemption Island continues on CBS each Wednesday night at 8 p.m.  The finale arrives in just a few weeks on Sunday, May 15.  Yours truly be there once again to bring you exclusive red carpet interviews from all of the finalists!  Stay tuned!
