American Idol: Top Seven Live Results!

April 21, 2011 05:56 PM by Lisa Princ

American Idol on FOX is back tonight with the live results of last night’s 21st century music performances. We also got to see performances by season seven winner David Cook as well as Katy Perry. Keep reading to find out which finalist was sent packing tonight!

American Idol’s live results show kicks of tonight as Ryan asked the judges how they thought it was going to play out tonight and no one had any idea. Haley, Lauren, Jacob and Stefano next took the stage for a performance of Train’s “Hey Soul Sister”. After a commercial break we got to see the Ford music video and then it was time for James, Casey and Scotty to hit the stage, but not for results, for a performance of Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida”.

Then Ryan grilled Jacob about being called a diva last night and Jacob said he would “get them back” and then Casey showed off a painting that a fan did of him! Jacob Lusk and Casey Abrams were the first to get some results and were asked to stand up for the review of their performances and critique. Casey was then sent to safety and Jacob was sent to the bottom three, making him the first of the night in the bottom.

Next up we got to see a rocking performance of “The Last Goodbye” by season seven winner, David Cook. “The Last Goodbye” is the first track off David Cook’s second album which comes out shortly titled “This Loud Morning” and David proved once again why he won season seven, I love this guy! David also filled us in that he will be walking a 5k soon for charity supporting brain cancer and then his mom took a walk over the judges’ table to get a hug from Steven Tyler.

Then we got see the top seven have some fun this week at a Dodger’s game and they went bowling. Next we saw the top seven got pampered with some spa treatment, and then it was back to some more results. James Durbin, Lauren Alaina and Stefano Langone were called to the center of the stage next. James told us that Muse loved his performance last night and Randy went on to say that he hoped Stefano did enough to stay out of the bottom three. But then Ryan revealed that Stefano Langone was in fact the next person in the bottom three tonight joining Jacob Lusk.

Both James and Lauren were then sent back to safety – poor Lauren looked so nervous! Ryan then called up Haley Reinhart and Scotty McCreery to the stage for the last of the results. After reviewing their performances, Scotty was sent to safety and Haley was sent to the bottom three. But as quickly as Ryan sent Haley Reinhart to the bottom three, he called her back to the center of the stage and then told her she was in fact safe also, leaving Jacob Lusk and Stefano Langone remaining to wait for their fate.

Katy Perry was up next on American Idol’s top seven live results show with a performance of her latest hit E.T. and then Ryan was shown backstage with Jacob Lusk and Stefano Langone where Jacob told us that he gave his best and that is all that matters, while Stefano said he has been down this road before but he did his best also. So with Jacob Lusk and Stefano Langone waiting nervously on the stage, the judges gave them some final words and Steven told them that none of the top seven deserved to be standing up there. Finally Ryan announced after the votes last night, Stefano Langone would be leaving American Idol this week – best of luck to Stefano Langone!

DAMN!! Was really hoping to see Jacob go home, but, not really surprised that it was Stephano. Maybe next week. How can people not get tired of Scotty and Lauren doing the same old thing every week? I don’t get it…….I just don’t get it!

Stefano, you are awesome and you will be very very missed. It feels like a light went out on Idol tonight – but we know that your light will keep shining as you continue to follow your dreams. You have everything you need. Use that strength you used when you beat the odds and came back from the accident. Get some good people behind you (Idol can be very fickle) and take yourself to the top. You are a gift.
