Petra Nemcova, along with partner Dmitry Chapmlin, may have been eliminated from Dancing with the Stars but she will not be forgotten. Her competitors are speaking out on why they love the supermodel sweetheart. Many of them are also hoping to follow in her footsteps to help others.
While Kirstie Alley was relieved to still be competing herself after landing in the bottom three with Petra, she told People Magazine, “I don’t know how to take her elimination because I love her. She’s the sweetest, most amazing, bright spirit in the universe.”
Professional dancer Karina Smirnoff also found Petra to be endearing, as Petra tried to lift her spirits on elimination night. Karina revealed, “I was venting to her about being in the bottom and she goes, ‘You know, sometimes it is a blessing in disguise.’ I was like, ‘Who are you, Mother Teresa?’ But it’s nice to know that there are people like her out there.”
Petra inspired many by using the show as a platform for her charity. After living through the tsunami disaster in Thailand, she founded the Happy Hearts Fund to help children in disaster stricken areas. “I will always be thankful for all the support from the audience and mainly for everyone who got inspired and started to do something to help children who are forgotten after natural disasters.” She even recruited a fellow competitor to be a part of it. Ralph Macchio said, “She’s just so giving and generous and her charity is so important to her-so much so that she has asked me to be a part of it. And that’s the beauty of coming together in a situation like this show. She’s a sweetheart.”
