While her former cast mates and frenemies continue to squabble over cocktail parties and cliques on The Real Housewives of New York City, Bethenny Frankel has moved on from the Bravo reality series and built a $120 million dollar empire in the process, making her one of the top earning reality TV stars! And to think it all started with a margarita!
She’s come a long way since competing for the job of Martha Stewart’s Apprentice. And after using her reality TV stardom to create and promote her SkinnyGirl brand, we’re sure even Martha herself can learn a few things from Bethenny Frankel.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Bethenny Getting Married star’s SkinnyGirl line of margaritas and other alcoholic drinks was recently acquired by Fortune Brands’ Beam Global for $120 million!
Not bad at all for a reality TV star!
Though it seems that Bethenny has figured out the secret to making reality TV actually work for her, Frankel says that she turned down the chance to participate in Bravo’s Real Housewives of New York City several times before finally saying yes.
Unlike her fellow Housewives, being on the series wasn’t about showing off her luxurious lifestyle. For Bethenny Frankel, it was all about business!
“I went on the show single-handedly and exclusively for business,” says Bethenny. “I knew it was a risk and I had the most to lose, because I already had a platform. When I went on the show, no one was going on for business, no one had done anything.”
Now, it seems that Bethenny’s started a bit of a trend. Many of the other Real Housewives – from New York City to Atlanta – have started their own businesses, which they shamelessly plug on the show whenever they can. Yet none have come even close to duplicating Bethenny’s success.
More than just margaritas, Bethenny Frankel’s SkinnyGirl empire, which began in 2009, now includes workout DVDs, shapewear, a diet cleanse, and weight loss supplements. And that’s not all!
Frankel also brings in a large sum of money from her best-selling books, speaking engagements, and endorsement deals with Pampers, Bluefly, and Hanes, in addition to her Bravo reality show, Bethenny Ever After.
Think Bethenny’s regretting having left The Real Housewives of New York City? Yeah, we don’t either.
You can find Bethenny’s SkinnyGirl margaritas at a store near you.
Bethenny Ever After airs Mondays at 10|9c on Bravo.
