Tori & Dean: sTORIbook Weddings – Arabian Nights

April 27, 2011 08:40 PM by Shayla Perry

Tonight on Oxygen‘s Tori & Dean: sTORIbook Weddings, Sherine and George enlist the help of Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott to plan their Arabian Nights nuptials. But when the couple can’t seem to agree on the location of their ceremony, and the groom’s father threatens to skip the wedding altogether, Tori & Dean have their work cut out for them!

This week on Tori & Dean: sTORIbook Weddings, Tori Spelling and hubby Dean McDermott are helping Sherine and George plan an exotic Arabian Nights themed wedding. The couple is very clear about what they want – only, they don’t want the same thing.

Sherine – who’s hoping to enter the reception on a magic carpet – has always envisioned an outdoor ceremony, but George is adamant about having the wedding in an Orthodox church; not just because of his wishes, but for his father who’s flying in from Lebanon for the ceremony and has already stated that if the wedding isn’t going to be in a church, he’s not going to be there.

And in addition to that minor issue, Sherine’s still in need of a wedding gown. She has her heart set on one in particular, but she can’t find it anywhere. We have a strong feeling that her new BFF Tori Spelling just may be able to hook her up!

With a good idea of what the couple wants, Tori and Dean get started on the plans.

First order of business: the bridesmaids’ dresses. Tori takes Sherine and her sisters to a designer to see what options they have. Sherine wants something low-cut and short, but her sisters, who are a little more conservative, worry about offending people if the wedding happens to take place inside a church. After seeing all of the shorter dresses, the designer shows Sherine a set of long, flowing, colorful gowns that she loves. They may not have been what she had in mind, but they are perfect for the Arabian Nights theme!

Now for the hard part — the location.

The couple takes a look at an Orthodox church and meets with the priest. After learning that she’d still be able to have her father walk her down the aisle, Sherine feels a little better about the thought of having the ceremony there, but still has her doubts.

Trying to create the perfect Arabian Nights atmosphere, Tori Spelling and James McGowan go searching for accent pieces to decorate the reception area – wherever it may be – while Dean McDermott gets busy with the carpentry. But don’t worry, Dean’s not on his own. Little Liam gives his dad a helping hand.

Later, Sherine and her mother & sisters are at Tori & Dean’s to make baklava, when Tori surprises her with a mystery package. Inside is the wedding gown that Sherine wanted!

Sherine tries on the dress, which fits like a glove, bringing her mother to tears.

With the dress taken care of, the couple STILL has to settle on a venue. Tori, Dean, and James take Sherine and George to a gorgeous estate; perfect for an outdoor ceremony and reception. Sherine absolutely loves it, but George doesn’t want to disappoint his parents. So what will they do?

Tori and Dean go with George to see his father and the suit that he made for him to wear on his big day. George tells his father that there’s a chance the ceremony will be held outdoors, since that’s what Sherine wants, but his father quickly tells him that that’s not acceptable. He wants the wedding to take place in their church, and is hoping that Sherine will change her mind, explaining to Tori & Dean that in Lebanon, the woman follows the man’s wishes.

The next day, Tori, Dean, Sherine, and George meet to settle on the menu for the wedding. Dean asks if the couple has made a decision about their venue, but so far, no one’s budging…and there’s only a week until the wedding.

And just when they thought things couldn’t get any worse, Tori finds out that the estate is no longer available. Translation: no outdoor ceremony for Sherine.

Sherine is broken-hearted, and Tori and Dean, eager to make things right, offer to allow the couple to use their backyard as a venue if they have to.

Not wanting to ruin the bride’s dream, Tori Spelling makes a last minute plea to the owners of the estate. Luckily, the property is for sale, so Tori notes that having the wedding there will bring over 100 prospective buyers to the grounds, which the owner just can’t turn down.

They rush to tell Sherine and George the good news, interrupting their family dinner. But for Sherine, it’s a welcomed surprise.

There’s just one thing…

After all that worrying, Sherine has decided to compromise and have the ceremony at George’s church, with the reception outdoors at the estate.

On the big day, Sherine’s mother has another surprise for the bride — her grandmother’s ring, which she always wanted. And bonus – it’s also something old and blue! Now she’s ready to walk down the aisle.

George is beaming as his bride is escorted down the aisle of the church by her father. After the traditional Orthodox ceremony, the couple is presented to their guests as husband and wife.

Time for the reception!

Arriving just as she wanted, Sherine is carried into the reception on a carpet. Amid the snake charmers, belly dancers, and yes, even a CAMEL, George’s father takes a moment to thank his new daughter-in-law for honoring his wishes and getting married in the church.

Another sTORIbook success!
