The Biggest Loser’s Kaylee Kinikini was no stranger to gaining weight at the weigh in’s, but she tells us in a post elimination interview that she now knows why. Kaylee also gushed about her new romance with Vance, the hopeful that we only saw once on our screens. Here is what Kaylee wanted to share with viewers and fans!
Question: You previously expressed your desire to go home, so was it a relief when you were eliminated?
Kaylee Kinikini: When I was first eliminated I was disappointed because ever since my dad left, I wanted to be there for me. Once I was done I realized now it’s on to the rest of my life, so it was bittersweet.
Question: How did you hookup with Vance?
Kaylee Kinikini: Actually there is a lot behind that story, I actually met Vance so to speak before that episode. Back when we were all auditioning for the show, we weren’t allowed to talk to other contestants but we would see each other out of our windows and wave to each other. I was attracted to him, and he was attracted to me and when we were getting ready to leave, I looked out my window and he pulled out sign that said I heart you. Ever since then I left for the ranch and never knew who my mystery boy was and I was shocked when he came back, it was really crazy to see. After I was eliminated he sent me a message over Facebook and we started texting – I would go visit Justin and Vance and we started dating.
Question: So how did Justin become involved in your romance?
Kaylee Kinikini: Well Vance was living close to Justin and we told him he had to go visit Justin, that Justin would help him out. Justin was training Vance when I went down there and we actually spent a lot of time at Justin’s house.
Question: Did your first date include Justin?
Kaylee Kinikini: When I went down to spend time with Vance – I don’t know if you’d call it a date, we were at Justin’s house and we worked out together. We actually went to Justin’s “Call out” class that he does.
Question: Does it help your relationship that you have both struggled with weight?
Kaylee Kinikini: I think it absolutely helps because the journey we have gone on, changed us and it is such a major one. Especially as young as we are, to have somebody side by side to talk to that can relate to how your feeling when you’re going through all these emotions is so helpful. It’s great to have someone who understands and we help motivate each other.
Question: Did the show give you the confidence to start dating?
Kaylee Kinikini: Yes, now I feel comfortable with myself. Before I had never dated anyone, never had a boyfriend, never thought anyone could like me, let alone love me. This helped me gain confidence to let someone love me, and I am now comfortable with myself to share that part of me with him.
Question: How have you changed emotionally since the show?
Kaylee Kinikini: This is a weight lose show but for me the biggest change I had was emotionally, changing how I felt about myself, my self worth made the biggest difference in my life. The whole process pushed me to change myself and find out what was wrong inside not just fix the outside.
Question: Did you figure out why you were gaining weight?
Kaylee Kinikini: I was feeling frustrated but I figured out why I was gaining. I realized that I was yo-yo’ing so much because I was right there at my goal weight.
Question: Do you ever give in to cravings now that you are home?
Kaylee Kinikini: When your in real life it’s hard, you still have the same cravings and temptations. Once in a while it’s okay to have maybe a little splurge, but when you have those you have to exercise more. It’s a balancing thing.
Question: Did you enjoy that day trip with your dad before he left?
Kaylee Kinikini: That was amazing – when Olivia and Irene told us, we both cried. It was so special since we have so much family history in New Zealand. It was such a good time to reflect with my dad and I am so grateful with those two for giving us those memories.
Question: We heard your dad tell us how proud of you he was, but how proud of him are you?
Kaylee Kinikini: I am so proud of my dad, watching him from the beginning, watching him stuck in room shadow boxing, watching how determined he was, I never really saw that side of him at home. Going through this together I saw a new side of him and it just made our bond stronger.
Question: Was it hard to transition in with the rest of the girls, since they all seemed to have such a close bond?
Kaylee Kinikini: They were definitely very close and they had the bond. I had the same type of bond with my fitness ridge people. We were always nice and we do all love each other, but there was a special bond that they had from the beginning and I understood that.
Question: What are your thoughts on Rulon walking away?
Kaylee Kinikini: I was shocked but I know Rulon very well and I knew he was having problems at home. I knew he was struggling trying to deal with the problems at home and I respected his decision. I was sad to see him go but I expected that.
Question: Are you planning to lose more weight for the finale?
Kaylee Kinikini: For me, if I lose more that’s great but it’s more about how I feel and going after the things I want from life. I am happy with where I am at, it’s all about looking and feeling good.
