We recently heard that FOX‘s only female judge on American Idol, Jennifer Lopez was setting her sights on a new reality show and now the New York Post is claiming that NBC has informed them that Ryan Seacrest is also working on a new reality gig, but this one will rival American Idol! What’s that all about? Keep reading for more details!
Ryan Seacrest is the face of American Idol, but is he about to jump ship? According to The New York post they were informed by NBC’s executive vice president of alternative programming that Ryan Seacrest is currently working on “another music concept, which is a totally different kind of competition show. It is self-contained episodes. It is a bit more fun. It’s not contestant-competitive, it’s artist-competitive.”
The show is still apparently in the works and it is way too early to tell if Ryan will continue to host American Idol or jump ship completely. Ryan Seacrest currently has a contract with with CKX, the parent of “Idol’s” production company, 19 Entertainment that restricts him from moving to any other network at the time being, but that contract expires in 2012. Whether or not they will try to renew that contract is also unknown, but Simon Fuller recently stated that “He is the unsung hero of American Idol. Ryan is one person I would not want to lose.”
What do you think about the possibility of losing Ryan Seacrest on American Idol? Could the show suffer such a loss so soon after the loss of Simon Cowell? Comment and share your thoughts with us!
