American Idol: Top Five Live Results!

May 05, 2011 05:56 PM by Lisa Princ

American Idol on FOX is back tonight with the live results of last night’s performances of songs fromnow and then. We also got to see performances by Jennifer Lopez as well as country superstars Lady Antebellum Keep reading to find out which finalist was eliminated tonight!

American Idol’s live results show kicks of tonight with Ryan Seacrest announcing that they received over 60 million votes last night, the highest number of the season and then we got a glimpse at Steven Tyler’s new book which he said he is “very excited about”. After a comical dig at Randy about a bake sale, Ryan brought out the top five who gave a performance of “So Happy Together” – but not for much longer. Ryan then announced that auditions are starting for season eleven in the following cities – St. Louis on June 28th, Portland on July 2nd and Charleston on July 22nd, with more cities to be announced next week…..that just axed the rumors of the show not returning for another season.

After the Ford music video, we got see a clip of the top five competing in Hell’s Kitchen with Gordon Ramsay, who asked them to cook omelettes. Gordon Ramsay threw Haley’s right in the trash, and told Jacob “not even the big man could save his omelette.” James was told his was “hard as a rock” while Lauren did a pretty good omelette and Scotty’s looked like something from the trash can. Gordon Ramsay awarded the best omelette to Lauren, followed by Jacob.

Lady Antebellum hit the stage next with their newest single “Just a Kiss” and all I can say is wow – it’s no wonder this duo is Grammy worthy. What a beautiful song and performance…even the judges gave them a standing ovation! Then after a comical skit about how the contestants choose their songs, Ryan told us we may be surprised by the results and he called James up first. James was told to go to one side of the stage and then it was Lauren’s turn for review and Ryan told her to stand on the other side of the stage, and of course we were left hanging for a commercial break.

After the break American Idol returned with the contestants once again in Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen, but this time doing a blind taste test. Then Gordon told them they all had great futures in the restaurant business as customers! Then we got to see a live performance of “On The Floor” by Jennifer Lopez and I have to say this was probably one the best live performances this season and then it was off to another commercial break, most likely to clean the stage from the glass Jennifer broke – if that was real anyway….or just an attempt to kill time.

Then we were back and got to see a glimpse of Jennifer Lopez’s new video “I’m Into You” and finally it was time for more results. Jacob was up next and after review he was sent over to Lauren’s side of the stage. Haley was up next and sent to stand with James after her performance review. Lastly, was Scotty and he was told he was safe and then Ryan revealed that he has never been in the bottom two. Then he asked Scotty to stand by the group that he thought was safe and when he couldn’t do it, Ryan walked him over to Haley and James and told the three of them that they were safe.

That left Jacob Lusk and Lauren Alaina and Ryan informed them that were indeed the bottom two – but who would be going home? Finally Ryan revealed that the person leaving American Idol this week would be Jacob Lusk! Best of luck to Jacob Lusk, thank you for giving me chills a few times, I am sure this is not the last we will hear of Jacob!

Unbelievable!!! I think Haley should has gone since the many weeks ago. I don’t understand either why judges are supporting her eventhought she is far behind all other singers and indeed has taken the place of all other very talented contestants. Wake up Anerica and support real talented singers and not the flirtatious bimbo.
