The race to the semi-finals is on and the competition is stiff on Dancing with the Stars. The top four battled it out, while an injured front runner saw everything change in an instant and could not keep up with the others. Is another comeback in Ralph Macchio’s future or will it be his last?
Len Goodman boasts what a fantastic night they had. They ask to see Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy do an encore performance of their passionate tango. I love this dance just as much the second time as I did last night. Kirstie is looking great!
Hines Ward and Kym Johnson join Kirstie and Maks on stage to learn their fate. Backstage footage of Kym and Hines shows playful teasing prior to their first dance. After their instant dance, Kym asks for a proper ring on her finger if they win the mirror ball trophy. Maks and Kirstie are shown rehearsing for their instant dance and her falling over. After, they hug and make up and Kirstie says she wants to be a dancer. Tom tells Hines and Kym they are in the semi-finals. Brooke reveals that Kirstie and Maks will also be in the semi-finals.
Jerry Rice and Kenny Mayne join Len Goodman for “Dance Center.” They evaluate Kirstie Alley and Len says he loves her acting skills and how she gets into the character. Kenny thinks something is going on between them because they are always kissing one another. Segments of Kirstie being silly and babbling are shown and Kenny thinks she can’t complete a sentence because Maks is so hot. Romeo is evaluated next and Kenny thinks he is a man of few words and video footage of him saying he is dancing for the kids over and over. Len loves his youth, but Jerry thinks she needs a stronger frame. Kenny jokes that he is fat.
Michael Bolton performs his song “I’m not Ready.” Delta Goodrum joins him for the duet. Thankfully, he doesn’t try to to incorporate any of his dance moves from his dancing experience. Anna Trebunskaya and Dmitry Chaplin perform to the song.
Backstage, Brooke asks Ralph how he is coping with his injury. He claims he is feeling better slowly and hopes to continue on the show. Romeo notes that anyone could go home and doesn’t feel totally safe. He claims they are a big family and would hate to lose anyone. Chelsea doesn’t feel confident, either. She doesn’t want to go home or say good-bye.
The segment, “Dance has the power to change lives” airs. Karley Tuita and her three sons are shown. She works three jobs to pay their dancing fees. It is revealed that their father had a stroke at age 39 and passed away from damages to the brain. Her eldest son immediately took on the role of father figure and began to tour with Jennifer Lopez and Chris Brown as a dancer to help his family. The three boys dance together and dedicate their performance to their mother. It’s a fun dance, but an even sweeter testament to their family.
Delta Goodrum steps in and sings “You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman.” Tom explains that she has never sang the song before and did it at the last minute when the scheduled performer had health issues. Cheryl Burke and Louis van Amstel perform to the song. Delta sounds great, especially for never having sang it or rehearsed it.
Jerry and Kenny return for the second part of “Dance Center.” The talk about Ralph. Jerry wants to sweep his leg. Len loves his posture and how he gets into the character. Jerry worries about his hips. Kenny says he would be more worried about Karina’s hips. They talk about Hines Ward and Kenny confuses Kym Johnson with previous winner Shawn Johnson. Len thinks Hines is one of the best football players and Jerry order him to go in timeout. Last up is Chelsea Kane. Len boasts that she is dynamic. As a dance purist, Kenny is offended by the modern moves and wonders why she is always dressed in Halloween costumes.
Grammy-winner Adele performs her hit “Rolling in the deep” from her album 21. What a unique voice she has. The Dancing with the Stars Troupe perform to the song.
The final three couples, Chelsea and Mark, Romeo and Chelsie and Ralph and Karina go to the stage to learn their results. All three couples have been at the top of the leader board at some point during the competition. Backstage footage shows Ralph telling Karina he has her and will be okay. He is shown trying to remain positive despite his painful injury. Chelsea tells Mark she loves him before they perform. She bounces around after getting two 10′s. The first couple in jeopardy is Ralph and Karina. The next couple in jeopardy is Romeo and Cheslie. Chelsea and Mark are revealed to be safe.
Romeo and Ralph wait together to learn who will be eliminated and who will make it to the semi-finals. Tom reveals that Remo and Chelsie are eliminated. Brooke tells Romeo it is so hard to see him go. Romeo is surprised because it was one of his best dances, but at the same time he is not surprised because the competition is so stiff. He is happy to go out in a bang. Tom points out that everyone is on their feet for him. Romeo says this show has changed his life forever. He thanks Chelsie for being a great teacher. He tells her he loves her and they can still dance together. Chelsie is so proud of him and his transformation. They go to the floor for one last dance. What did you think of the results? Did the right pair go home? I will miss Romeo. He was so positive and came a long way, which is what the show is all about.
