Recently, during one of his UK shows, FOX’s Kitchen Nightmares host Gordon Ramsay took a trip to Asia where the locals eat bugs. In an interview upon his return, Gordon talks about cooking bugs and admits that he has a weak stomach! Keep reading for more details!
Kitchen Nightmares host and chef Gordon Ramsay is known for cooking lots of different things – but could bugs be next on the menu? Gordon recently traveled to Asia for his hit UK series “Gordon’s Great Escape” where the locals were used to eating insects of all sorts, and Gordon admits to cooking some of his own. In a recent interview, Gordon Ramsay reveals that while in Asia “I went on a hunt for tarantulas, I went into the desert and found them and forgot all about the fear factor and grabbed them and took off their fangs and blanched them and deep fat fried them. It is not the kind of finger food you would expect to see in Claridge’s, but it looked like some sort of chicken wing that was full of grease and tasted of nothing.” I am not really sure I would want to see that on Kitchen Nightmares or Hell’s Kitchen anytime soon.
Even more surprising is that Gordon Ramsay also revealed that he has a weak stomach – you wouldn’t imagine a chef with a weak stomach, now would you? It’s true as Gordon added “I have a very sensitive stomach so I’m not very good at keeping those kind of foods down. I was actually ill for two days while we were making ground traveling across Vietnam.” I definitely did not picture Chef Ramsay as one who gets ill easily, but now we know he does!
