American Idol: James Durbin – “Lady Gaga Get Your Hands Off Of Me!”

May 13, 2011 11:54 AM by Christine McDow

On American Idol last night, not only was James Durbin shocked when he was eliminated but he was shocked with Lady Gaga started to grope him. More accurately she felt like he was not doing the dance to “Love Potion #9″ correctly, and proceeded to grab his hips to show him how. This left James Durbin very uncomfortable.

James Durbin told Life & Style that the whole situation made him very uncomfortable. “I didn’t like it. It was unexpected and very uncomfortable. To sum it up in one word: awkward!”

Did you see Lady Gaga putting her hands on James Durbin? What did you think of her performance last night?  More importantly, what do you think about James being sent home from American Idol? Comment below and let us know.

What in hell is wrong with america. Don’t they know talent when they hear it? James has consistently blown the competition away. If Lady ga-ga was’nt there to make him look bad, he would have taken “american Idol” hands down. If any other artist ever considers performing with her, it would be a bad career choice. You go James. See you soon.

I believe James Durbin is the very best performer on American Idol EVER .It is the worse mistake that has ever been done it is even worse than Pia leaving.

I saw Lady Gaga putting her hands on James, I figured he didn’t care, he could laugh about it with all his friends. I was VERY shocked however that he was eliminated. He is damn good, and 500 times better than Scotty, to me there is no competition left. Scotty dont hold up to the girls that is for SURE! So, I was so hopping to see Haley and James battle it out. Scotty better go home next because if he gets to the bottle two who ever the girl is will win, Sorry scotty, the young little girls make think you are cute, but you are a opi taylor, and if all you can sing is country, well, it wont go very far. So, really, there is no competition left.

James Durbin will sell out every concert he goes on and I will buy his CD’s anyday.
I wouldnt walk across the street to see GAGA do her GAGGA singing. Her phony make up made here even uglier that she really is. A Tramp that cant really dress up!!
If She needs a quick Jolly go grope Randy!!

Last night brought a finish for me re:american idol. I am 71 years of age, therefore, I am objective. James Durbin is by far the most talented contestent that has ever been on american idol. It is such a shame that the producers of american idol have turned the show into a popularity contest. So much for showmanship. Good luck and God’s speed to you James Durbin!

it should have been Pia and James in the finale.
This was 2 of the 3 biggest mistakes in Idol history. The other was when Doughtry was voted off
They need to take the American voters out of the
    equation somewhat.

James never should have been the one sent home. For lack of talent, I would have said the youngest girl. Because she totally rubs me wrong, I would have said Haley. She doesn’t strike me as being a really nice person. And while I was a major Scotty fan for the longest time, I would have accepted his elimination easier. He is strictly country/westers — not everyone’s cup of tea. But James, well, he could do it all!!!!!!!!

Yes, he’s good. But what’s good for you may not be good for someone else. The world will be so boring if we all have the same taste. I’m not surprised at all. Many peeps don’t like his style, but he screamed his way to the top 4 anyway…lol. There is life after American Idol. He has no business crying like a b!tch. He is a sore loser, I’m glad he didn’t win. Haley all the way!

  15. Marcia Lynn Says:
    May 13th, 2011 at 5:11 pm

I think James was good but out of the four left, I was glad he was the one voted off last night. I think James can still have a solid career without winning American Idol. I hope all his fans will now pull fo Haley. Let’s go Haley.

  16. Julie Says:

For a while there I thought James could be a real rocker, now after his “uncomfortable” statement about Queen Gaga, the world knows he’s just a scared little boy pretending. Grow some balls James.

I’m sorry, but is every contestant on this show a prude? If your mentor is telling you to move your hips and get into your song and you’re not doing it, they will do it for you. She didn’t grab his junk. He needs to get a grip.

  18. Julie Says:
    May 13th, 2011 at 6:02 pm

I was absolutely shocked and stunned that America voted James off. He should have won this competition. Haley needed to go home! I hope James gets a record deal from someone. Good luck to you James!!!

Lady Ga Ga has no talent as far as I am concerned, she is not in the class that James is, she looks like a street walker and acts like one,James Durbin has a has a heart and is a wonderful artist , I am so sorry he did not win but I am sure he has a wonderful future ahead of him GO James,

  20. Deborah Says:

I was very upset that James got voted off last night.Personally I think that who ever counts the votes needs to do a recount and check the votes between James and Haley.I know I may make some people upset but this is my opinion. James should be in the top three. James has never been in the bottom but all of a sudden he is voted off. I do not understand this…. James you are great you deserve to be heard. I think you can sing any thing you want to. I have been pulling for you and with you from the start. I wish you luck and God bless you and your family.

Every performance that James did on Idol was perfection and entertaining. The American public just does see great talent like James very often and he sure has it. Most of America is so stupid. How do you vote for someone like Scotty who is one demensional, and allow THE most talented of all time to go home? James is and will be by far the most talented Idol contestant to ever appear on Idol. I’m absolutely pissed.

James was the only reason I was watching American Idol..I hope he gets a contact soon. I think the
judges should have the last word in voting. I noticed that the judges seem to be afraid to let the singers know how they really feel, if may be affecting the voting. I Miss Simon with his contruction remarks. This could be my last year in watching.

I’m beyond shocked. I feel really bad for James. I’m a classical music person. I never liked heavy metal; but I loved James’s heavy metal performance. Since then, I’d been looking forward to his performance every week because I thought he was a fascinating entertainer. I’m done with AI this season. Really don’t care now who wins. I still won’t go to a metal concert unless it’s a James Durbin concert because I know he will entertain me for sure.

  33. Beth Says:
    May 14th, 2011 at 8:52 pm

This is the second biggest mistake America has made this season on AI. All I can think of is that people are not doing their part and voting. My last fav is off, so I won’t be watching any more of the competition.

I was watching every weeks from malaysia, and james is the the best performer i have seen in this seasons in american idol.I think that the people are not voting for him cause they thought that the others will vote for him cause he is the strongest contestant in the idol. They choose the others which also their favourites.Maybe this also be the cause he lost.I was very sad to see this but i hope the next round will be fairly done by voters. However james i know we still can see your concert..We proud of you yes yes..all the best JAmes..Voters, keep votings..

The elimination of James Durbin from American Idol was a travesty. It makes me think that the data collection is a sham. There’s no way the American public would have voted him off. He was and is the best all around talent on the show. How in the world did this happen?

  36. Noura Says:
    May 15th, 2011 at 4:42 am

James was a great performer but only a good singer. He def didn’t have a better voice than the others and didn’t come close to the talent of Adam and Chris. People are blinded by his big performances as well as his story and the judges comments.

  37. VLF Says:
    May 16th, 2011 at 6:37 am

It has been such a fun season with a lot of great talent. James is not only a wonderful performer and entertainer, but a very special person and it’s nice to have a program that shows the “person” – “persons” behind the performances. Lady Gaga was a very poor choice to be a mentor for anyone (she may have had some good things to say and share, but her actions with James and Scotty both cancelled out the good she had to say). Obviously it’s a popularity contest where the voting is concerned. I think they will all have great chances in the future and it would be nice if we — the public — could be nice to them all whether they get the title or not. 70+ million votes says people do care and are voting — that’s so great — but everyone isn’t going to get his/her choice. That’s just how it is — James says “give metal a chance” — I say, lets love one another — give love a chance!

I agree that James should have been in the final three.I was sure Haley was going home.I voted for Scotty but,I believe James shouldnt have gone.I do believe it shouldnt be on popularity .Talent is reason for voting.Haley was growling in her first of the two songs. The second song was excellent.I was hoping that Scotty and James would go on to the final two.Lauren is great but I like d Scotty and James.I will say that I hope AI changes .I feel that the judges should have the final say. They know whats best. My daughter and son-in-law will not watch AI anymore. I will in hopes they change the show for next season.

American Idol needs to improve the voting process, and just make one vote per person. People don’t always feel like sitting there redialing. I gave James 75 votes myself and wanted to do more, but I was tired of it. Scotty cant carry a note long enough, he is good but not a super star, not an idol. James is a star, he can do anything and has proven it. Haley is great too but sometimes screams like Randy told her and I thought she was rude to him which is a little glimpse of her personality.

  40. Maryann Says:
    May 16th, 2011 at 3:34 pm

James should be in top 3, and should win. They need to change the voting process to be fair. One vote per person. Not everyone feels like redialing and redialing. I put in 75 votes myself and wanted to do more but just too tired of it. Voting process sucks, it is not fair. Scotty is good, but cannot carry a note long enough, doesn’t even come close to the talent of James Durbin, he has it all, he’s a great performer and singer! CHANGE THE VOTING PROCESS TO ONE PER PHONE LINE AND ONE PER EMAIL.

  41. Maryann Says:
    May 16th, 2011 at 3:37 pm

James is the one with all the singing and performing talent. Scotty cant carry a note long enough. I voted for James 75 times and got tired or wouldve voted more. Not everyone feels like always redialing. They need to change the voting process to be fair. One vote per phone line and email.

Sick that James will not be in the finals with Lauren – they would be my choice to battle it out at the end. Love Scotty and think he’ll have a great career – never cared for Haley and I think the judges really blew it when they wasted their save …. this is what it is for, right here. Lady Gag Gag….don’t get her – James is a family man, which is very refreshing in the entertainment world.

I find it odd that Lady Gaga is always on American Idol. I find her boring and over rated. What was with the tights and leotard. Anyway, I am in my 40s and I haven’t been excited about music in years. James has really sparked an interest in me. He has the most amazing voice. What a talented kid. Genuine also. Love his voice!

  44. webthinkn Says:
    May 16th, 2011 at 9:12 pm

Yes, I thought Gaga trying to move Jame’s hips was totally uncalled for… he has great moves all on his own!! Maybe she couldn’t come up with any other kind of criticism… but he certainly didn’t have to show her his incredible stage performance during a singing rehearsal! jeez!
James Durbin has “nailed it” every single week & should have been the Idol winner.
But the 7-10 year-olds love that dull, lifeless Scotty for some reason and spend all night making sure he stays in the competition… Scotty is way overdue to go home… he’s boring, has a very limited voice range, no stage persona, besides that goofy look on his face he looks clumsy on stage. I don’t understand why the judges criticize the others so much, yet treat Scotty like a king…
The voting system is totally unfair, too. They should limit it to a maximum of 5 votes per person. If Scotty wins it, I’ll puke and never watch Idol again!
    I’m hoping the extremely talented, confident, and beautiful Haley is somehow recognized as the true Idol (now that James is no longer in the running…) I love that she sings from her heart and social concerns ~ and that she stands up to Randy’s rotten comments! :}

just once would I like to see Scotty give a 110%, I dont think that he could do a Led Zeppelen, Alice Cooper type of song. James outsang all 3 of the remaining contestants combinded. I do like the other 3 to an extent though. I was thinking on the voting situation, yes 1 to 5 votes per phone line is sufficient enough, but here is a thought….. how about the voters vote for who they think should be kicked off instead of who they think is their favorite. I am sure the outcome would be totally different. any thoughts oanyone?

James Durbin is the most talented performer ever to grace the American Idol stage. America Idol voters don’t know a good thing when they see/hear it. James Durbin is a hair from being as talented as Steven Tyler. Steven Tyler even predicted weeks ago that he would be preforming with James at the finals. How could Steven be wrong about true talent and America Idol voters be right? Evidently, Steven is more talented and smarter than American Idol voters. I am done with the washed up popularity reality show. I can’t wait to buy James Durbin’s collections and attend his awesome concerts. As for as remaining contestants, Scotty WHO? Lauren WHO? Haley WHO?

Itis so sad that James was eliminated. Being a mom to a 17 year old son with asperger syndrome, I understand very well why James got nervous when Ga-ga touched him. Why that was allowed to happen, is so sad. James has turned his disability into a huge ABILITY, and I am so proud of him. What a role model. Most people with asperger syndrome do not like being touched. To turn that part of their disability “off’ would be like telling Stevie Wonder to “see.” Shame on the people who don’t have the sensitivity to know this. Shame on you, Ga Ga. You rock, James!
