After weeks of drama, strategy and watching Phillip Sheppard walk around in his pink granny panties, the finale of Survivor: Redemption Island is here. With eight players left in the game, this season finale will be unlike any other in Survivor’s 22-season history! Somebody is about to become a millionaire…
Due to the added twist of Redemption Island, this weekend’s finale brings us eight people still left in the running for the $1 million grand prize. That sets a Survivor record as the most active players going into a finale throughout the show’s 22 seasons.
The live reunion show immediately follows the announcement of the winner in New York City where host Jeff Probst vows he will get to the bottom of Phillip’s self-proclaimed past as a former federal agent. Since the season began, Phillip’s goofy antics and bizarre claims have brought doubt from nearly everybody involved in the game. Can Phillip prove he did work for the government? How will Probst get to the bottom of it? Possibly using a lie detector like he offered to Coach during the live Survivor: Tocantins reunion show?
As I’ve done since season 13, I will be sitting in the audience for the finale, which will be held inside the Ed Sullivan Theater (where David Letterman’s show is taped). I will be there in the studio once again to witness the moment when Probst announces the winner. But more importantly, I’m there to deliver a first-person look inside what goes down at the finale. Immediately after the live reunion show, I will return to the red carpet for exclusive interviews with all of the final contestants to get the juicy gossip on everything about the game. Be sure to check this site in the days after the finale for all of that exclusive coverage!
Who do you think will outwit, outplay and outlast all the others to become the sole Survivor? Will it be one of the four left at the Murlonio camp — Boston Rob, Phillip, Ashley or Natalie? Or will it be one of the four people left on Redemption Island — Matt, Grant, Mike or Andrea? Can Matt fulfill the theme of redemption and come back twice to win the whole game? Can Boston Rob finally reach his goal of winning the entire game after four attempts? We don’t have to wait much longer! The two-hour finale arrives Sunday at 8 p.m. on CBS.
After Survivor: Redemption Island comes to a close, the location and title for Survivor’s 23rd edition will be announced. Many fans have speculated the next edition will return to Samoa where seasons 19 and 20 were filmed.
