Who knew that a little black dress could cause so much of a stir — or actually do some good in the world?! After being tossed out on the street by her Real Housewives of New York City castmate, Sonja Morgan, Alex McCord decided to offer up the disastrous duds she wore that evening as part of a charity auction hosted by none other than Bravo‘s resident Countess, LuAnn deLesseps.
“I love this dress by Walter, and it certainly got my castmates and the viewers talking,” Alex McCord said of her LBD, dubbed “the S&M dress” by the Countess. “Who would have thought a simple black dress in New York City would create so much excitement?”
And with that “excitement,” manufactured in part by Sonja Morgan, the S&M dress has increased in value, which came in handy for one particular charity — ACE Programs for the Homeless. McCord donated her dress to be used in a charity auction for the boutique, Use Your Head, Shop For A Cause, which supports ACE. The event was hosted by the fabulous LuAnn de Lesseps, who has probably now taken back everything bad she’s ever said about the ensemble.
“Simon and I love supporting Henry and ACE, and that LuAnn was there hosting the event was the icing on the cake. Or the detail on the dress!” explained McCord.
But don’t worry, Alex McCord won’t be shedding any tears over the loss of her dress. According to the New York housewife, she’s already gotten a lot of use out of it — if not a little too much!
“I’ve now worn it on TV twice as well as on a red carpet, so it’s time to donate it and let someone else start her own conversation,” says McCord.
