Dancing With The Stars: The Stars Discuss The Semi-Finals
May 17, 2011 08:00 AM by Allyson Wells
The semi-finals are over on Dancing with the Stars and on tonight’s live results show, the final four will learn which celebrity will be eliminated one show short of the finals. The rehearsal footage during the show revealed that the celebrities are starting to feel the pressure of the competition. After performing, some of them were emotionally charged backstage. Keep reading to see what they had to say about the night.
Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff were both upset with Bruno Tonioli for a remark aimed at Karina, which ended up being bleeped out. Ralph revealed to eOnline, “It was a bad job by him. I’m sure he recognizes that. I want to hear my criticism about how I can be better, not a comment that is just going to make a sound bite. And I get that it’s a show, but I’m very protective of Karina. I bit my tongue, and she responded by saying, ‘classy,’ which was a very good thing to say. That comment was just airtime wasted.” Karina added, “I think he wanted just some camera time and attention, and that’s the way to do it.”
Chelsea Kane said she was relieved to be done with the week of rehearsals with partner Mark Ballas. “You’re at a point where there’s no excuse to be bad. There’s no get out-of-jail free card. It’s time now where you should really be kicking butt. I was really stressed out this week. I’m so excited to take a nap.”
Kirstie joked that the show should have a new name. “This isn’t a dance competition. This should be Mind F–king With the Stars.” However, Kirstie also wants to be in the finals as much as any other star. “I feel like it’s our destiny. And then I want to get really, really, really good! I do feel like I keep getting better, and that’s good, but I just want to be spectacular.”
Finally Kym was proud of Hines after an emotional night. The two performed beautifully after Kym suffered a nasty fall that could have not only taken her out of the competition, but also ended her career. “We’re OK and we got through the dance and we got a perfect scores and that was Hines. That was Hines that got us those scores. Hines is a great dancer, so we’re just going to count on that right now. Hines deserves to be in the finals.”
Which star do you think will be eliminated tonight? Tune into the live results show tonight to learn who the final three will be.
