Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff were eliminated one dance shy of the finals on Dancing with the Stars. Being eliminated was not the only thing that upset the duo. Judge Bruno Tonioli’s comments after their samba left both Ralph and Karina reeling. Keep reading to find out what the pair had to say.
After the duo danced a very sexy samba, TV censors covered up Bruno using the “p” word when describing Karina’s costume. During the show, Karina visibly held Ralph back from saying anything back to him. Karina revealed to Us Weekly that she felt dirty after his comments. “Today was just inappropriate and rude and uncalled for.” Even more shockingly, Karina stated that Bruno “wouldn’t make eye contact” with her after it happened.
Ralph is very protective of Karina and said, “That was just really an unprofessional thing to do. We went a little bigger than life. This was a chance to just break out and be funny and fun. The judges bought it with lots of others but they didn’t buy it with us.” Karina agreed and added, “I truly think it’s personal. Because there’s no reason why it happened the way it did. We worked our butts off and we truly rely on our fans and we love them. At the end of the day we have the most beautiful memories, fun memories to share, and that’s what we thrive on.”
Thankfully, the two had fun with their experience and have wonderful memories of the show. Perhaps Bruno just got a bit carried away, as he is famous for doing. It is not the first time the judges have offended others with their comments, and it for sure won’t be the last.
