Last night on FOX’s Kitchen Nightmares, Gordon Ramsay paid a visit to Oceana Grill and dealt with his share of rotten food and rats. A few months later has the New Orleans eatery gone back to it’s old ways? Keep reading to find out!
Kitchen Nightmares fans watched in disgust last night as Gordon Ramsay dealt with shrimp so rotten they made him vomit as well as a kitchen full of mice and critters. When he left, the place was in much better shape but we also watched as one of the owners still seemed unsure about the changes. Now, a few months later, has the restaurant gone back to it’s old ways? The reviews are in and while some of them are positive, most seem to be from tourists, and there were some bad reviews as well.
The one that stuck out to me was from a local tour guide in New Orleans who knows a thing or two about dining on Bourbon street and she was disgusted thinking that the brothers went back to their old ways. The local said she had been there twice before, once was good and once was awful and after hearing of Gordon’s visit she decided to give it one more try. So what did she have to say about the latest visit?
Of Oceana itself she said “It’s obvious that they have chosen to follow none of Gordon’s advice. The inside is still dirty and dank and I opted for the courtyard. The “ice cream parlor” chairs in the courtyard were horribly uncomfortable, ugly and offered no ambiance to this otherwise awesome courtyard. Maybe it was a subconscious way of the owner telling customers to get the hell out.”
But that can be viewed as an opinion, the real question is was the food any good? She added “The sauce had crawfish tails in it that were previously frozen and came out a nasty grey color on my plate. Ick…I’m not eating those so I picked them off. Otherwise the redfish was ok. The fried eggplant appetizer was pretty good. The big problem?, the menu is way overpriced for the style of food.”
Is it possible that Rami and Moe went back to their old, frozen ways? I wonder if they are still checking the food or sending out rotten food as they did previously. If anyone visits New Orleans and is daring enough to check Oceana, please be sure to report back to us and let us know how your visit went!
