Top Chef Masters: Did Celina Tio Deserve To Get Canned Over A Salad?

May 21, 2011 02:00 PM by Lisa Princ

If you tuned in to Bravo‘s Top Chef Masters this week, you watched as the remaining chefs cooked romantic meal for date night but Celina Tio created a dish that fit in with the couple’s lifestyle she got canned over a salad – but should she have been? Read on for more…

On Top Chef Masters this week we all heard Chris tell the contestants that he and his girlfriend loved to get pretzels and drinks at the ball game, it was special to them. So when Celina Tio made them some homemade pretzels, why did the judges feel the need to eliminate her? Easy, the salad – but is that a good enough reason when they all gushed over how good her pretzels were?

Celina does not seem upset with the judges in the least, but like Curtis Stone she does seem annoyed by Hugh as she recently said “It’s interesting to see Hugh say in interviews, ‘I don’t know how she’s going to pull that off and make it into a find dining thing.’ Not once were we supposed to make it into a fine dining thing. All the challenges were something fun and interesting for the viewers and hopefully fun for us. And it was for me.” Meanwhile, Hugh clearly did not turn his dish into “fine dining”.

What do you think? Should Hugh have been sent packing instead of Celina? Comment and share your thoughts with us and then be sure to tune into next week at 10 pm EST on Bravo for a brand new episode of Top Chef Masters!

It’s annoying to watch this Top Chef series. I’ve enjoyed the others so much, but the judges are really pissing me off. They give the chefs a challenge with certain restraints, and then when the chefs accomplish what’s asked, they’re kicked off the show.
