American Idol: Bono And The Edge May Perform At The Finale

May 22, 2011 12:00 PM by Lisa Princ

American Idol on FOX has been pretty tight lipped about which performers we will see on the finale next week but rumors and spoilers are starting to leak out. We have learned that there is a possibility that we will see Bono and the edge perform. Keep reading for more..

American Idol’s finale begins next week and according to the New York Post, Bono has been in talks with the show about a possible performance next week. Bono has been negotiating with the show for her and The Edge to perform tunes from “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” and even have some of their “Spiderman” stars to join them on stage. Sources say that although it is still in the early stages of talk, Bono and The Edge are trying to convince Fox how it would work.

“Spiderman” is set to open on Broadway on June 14th and the exposure from Idol could be huge for the production, but ultimately it has to be huge for American Idol also. Bono and The Edge have written the tunes for the Broadway production and are excited at the possibility of getting so many viewers to hear them. When questioned by The New York Post, reps for Fox, U2 and the production declined to comment, which tells me that have not reached a decision. As soon we hear it’s official, we will be sure to pass it on to you!

I don’t care who performs on the last show. I quit watching after James Durbin was eleminated. It was then that I discovered the voting is totally bogus. Talent will not be a result at the end. If this is not restructured you will never see a real AI, just a popularity contest James will definately go on to have a successful career and I don’t give AI the credit. The program is just so controlled and mishandled by the producers. I was so proud to see that James would not be misguided by those there to critique the contestants. James knew the direction he wanted to go and that made him such a true artist. What has happened to the show? It does not seem to have a clear direction. Just the three judges telling every contestant such comments as “you’re in it to win it” as well as that was good baby. Ugh! Why do you think they are competing judges? I will be surprised if AI is back next season. If so, they won’t be at the top in ratings. I am looking forward to Simon’s X Factor. No matter what the critics say, Simon gives good constructive criticism for the good of the show and contestants.
