American Idol: Season Ten Finale Live Results!

May 25, 2011 07:02 PM by Lisa Princ

Tonight we saw the season ten finale of American Idol on FOX‘s second half with the live results! After a star studded show, we found out which one of our cute Country crooners walked away with the crown. Keep reading for all the details!

American Idol’s season ten finale live results kicks off as Ryan Seacrest announced that they received a record setting 122 million votes last night! After introducing our top two and a look at both Scotty and Lauren’s hometown celebrations going on live tonight, the season ten top 13 hit the stage with Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” and it was so nice to see them all again.

Opening up the star filled performances was our 4th finalist, James Durbin who got the chance to sing alongside Judas Priest! James and Judas Priest came out rocking a medley of “Living After Midnight” and “Breaking The Law”. James was spectacular and looked like he had a blast on stage. Then Ryan took us down memory lane with a comical look at the “Randy-ism’s” of the season – all Randy Jackson’s funny audition comments such as “what kind of show is this” as well as Randy’s catch phrase of “in it to win it”.

Next up on stage was Gospel crooner Jacob Lusk who performed with another Gospel great, Kirk Franklin performing “I Smile” and it was pretty boring in my opinion, especially after watching James! After a commercial break, we got a more entertaining performance of “Fat Bottomed Girls” by Casey Abrams and Jack Black – complete with large bottomed gals dancing around them.

The season ten top 13′s girls graced the stage next minus Lauren Alaina with a medley of Beyonce tunes, but I have to say I am disappointed in the amount of air time that Pia Toscano got during this group performance. At the end up the medley they were joined by Beyonce herself on stage. Then it was Steven Tyler’s turn for a tribute as Ryan announced when the show took him on they thought he may be too much to handle and “he was”. Following was a comical look at all Steven’s crazy comments of the season, and his bleeped moments – the crowd obviously loves Steven!

Haley Reinhart was up on the stage next with a performance of “Stepping Out” with Tony Bennett and Steven Tyler’s puzzled look said it all – definitely an odd combination and boring to say the least. Next it was Jennifer Lopez’s turn to endure Ryan’s comical tribute. This time Jennifer was spotlighted on how much the contestants and hopefuls have loved her and praised her all season long.

American Idol’s season ten finale results show continued with a performance by Lil Jon along with TLC doing a medley of their hits with the top girls once again. Seriously? Couldn’t they have done better than a has been group – I think the lead gal for TLC needed to be on The Biggest Loser and not Idol. But then we got some real talent when Scotty McCreery hit the stage with the one and only Tim McGraw for an awesome performance of “Live Like You Were Dying”. This performance was definitely one of the best of the show so far – what a great contrast in their voices and a perfect duet!

After a break, it was time for some more comedy as Ryan brought back big Joe, the radio host from auditions who put on a comical skit to show us some of the funniest contestants and moments of the auditions, including many angry hopefuls who were sent packing. Marc Anthony then hit the stage with some Latin tune and in the middle of it, he was joined by his wife, Jennifer Lopez who was not shy in shaking her money maker!

And the comedy continued as we got a look at “the most shocking elimination” of the season in which most folks said was James, Casey begged to differ. James and Casey comically bickered back and forth about which one of them was the most shocking when Pia walked in the room with a ribbon wrapped around that said “most shocking” and donning a crown! I think most fans will still agree that James Durbin definitely had the most shocking elimination of the season. Then our guys of the top 13 hit the stage with a medley of hits only to be joined by Tom Jones at the end where they all sang “It’s Not Unusual”.

The Ford music video was next which was a trip down memory lane with both Scotty and Lauren and then we got a quick look at the two of them visiting their schools. Both of their principals were at the finale and then Scotty and Lauren handed them both keys to their brand new Fords! Then Ryan announced that both Scotty and Lauren would get the keys to any Ford they wanted. Then Lady Gaga took the stage with a performance of her new single “The Edge Of Glory” and just when you think she can’t get any weirder, she does – great song but not sure about her getup!

Lauren Alaina took the stage next for a performance of “Before He Cheats” and right before the chorus hit, Carrie Underwood joined her on stage – what an awesome performance and another excellent duet! Then we had a look at what the past contestants had to say about our top two and it was good. Beyonce hit the stage again with a performance of her new song “One Plus One” which was beautiful and she looked stunning as usual.

Next on the American Idol season ten finale results show was Bono and The Edge singing “Rise Above” from the Spiderman musical and it was complete with Spiderman swinging from the ceiling and landing right in front of Jennifer Lopez. Following the chaotic Spiderman performance was Steven Tyler both playing the piano and singing “Dream On” and even at 63 years old, Steven Tyler can still belt it out like he did so many years ago. What a truly great experience, despite the fact that no one from Aerosmith was there with him – I still think they are holding a grudge.

Finally it was time to find out who would be crowned the winner of American Idol season ten. After dimming the lights, Ryan announced that they winner of season ten of American Idol season ten was Scotty McCreery! Scotty said thanks to the Lord and that he never in his wildest dreams thought he would get there and gushed that he and Lauren are a team and will remain so. Then Scotty took the stage with his soon to be released new single “I Love You This Big”. Congratulations to Scotty McCreery, the new American Idol champion!

No. America did not get it right.. When is American Idol going to put a stop to the massage teenage little girl vote? Its really terrible that female singers do not really have a chance to win. Where are your last male winners?? The female contestants are more successful than the male winners. Something needs to be done about the voting. Lauren is a way better singer than Scotty.

Yes, I think they tried to manipulate with the hype last night. Lets face it, we will buy both albums and sales will prove who buys and who calls 500 times and doesn’t buy. I Personally had Pia and James figured for the top, I will buy there’s too. I wish them all success.

Yes America got it right!!! If the choices were between these two. I still feel James should have won. But since that was not to be than Scotty was my next choice… And I feel he can thank the judges for doing everything they could to make sure Lauren won,, It backfired big time.. If they had keep their mouths shut and not given Scotty such a sucky song to sing last and bring on the doctor to insure a pitty vote than maybe us OLDER MOMS might not have been so mad at the judges that we would have only voted 1 or 2 times like always. But last night I voted for Scotty for 2 hours straight hitting redial… And you can thank the judges and Idol for that.. If they felt it was ok to make it so hard for Scotty to get a fair chance. Than I felt it was ok to take advantage of their completely unfair rule of unlimited voting. Don’t get me wrong I think Lauren Hs a vert good voice but I just felt Scotty was ready for this and has the voice to be great.. My comment is to try to get Idol to get their voting system right and tell the judges to try to keep their personnal feelings to themselves.

The producers of the show did everything they could to trash two decent very tallented people. The showed the judge who cannot say anything but vulgarity being bleeped, they showed the disgusting gaga who is no lady, and they had the other contestants who didn’t make the final say cutting, disrespectful things about their ages and cut them down. I hope Ford and Coca Cola loose money for sponsoring this trash night which could have been something special for the winner and runner up. I hope Am Idol crashes and burns as a program because of the disrespect shown this year’s winner and runner up. Just because America likes conservative decent tallented young people who don’t act like they are sex crazed idiots, it seemed the producers had to slap Americans who voted for those with the best character and sense of decency of the bunch, they slapped us in the face with the trashiest program they could put together. I will not ever watch or vote on that program again and hope it goes down the toilet where such crap belongs. They Should have treated Scotty and Alaina with more respect as they have previous winners. Perhaps a change producers and a change of judges is needed.

Dear Saint Sally: All that you have to do is change the channel, dear. There are a lot of good Christian stations to view and sing along with. Crashing and burning? Disgusting? Crazed idiots? Toilets? Crap? You are one angry perfect person! This show has a lot of variety in different genres of music. The judges and team are experienced, amusing, and keep the show rolling. So please, Sally, take your tight little world and move on, so that others can enjoy the show!

Come on Idol, cant you put on a show that’s not typical Hollywood sleeze? There are a lot of “KIDS” in the audience. You really need to step up your game. The ONLY enjoyable acts were the idol contestants themselves, Kirk Franklin, Scotty and Lauren singing their duo’s with their star match ups and of course Steven Tyler who got the least amount of singing time and he was the most popular. Jennifer Lopez was a huge disappointment! Instead of setting the standard, she followed a pathetic one. I thought she had more class than that. I thought wrong!
You’ve got it wrong Idol! Maybe YOU need to take a serious clue from your contestants and how “America” votes. Lady GaGa is old news and an old act. Well, if at first you don’t succeed, try try again. Please do try and get an actual decent and enjoyable finale next year or I’ll tune in only for the last 5 minutes of the show so I can see who wins.
